I don't know where to post this - I need help |
|
Ever since I registered on DU and clicked on all these links I have been getting e-mails evidently with pornographic content. I have never opened one but I really would like to get rid of them altogether. What could I do?
Erm - I'm quite dumb when it comes to computers so please phrase any answers accordingly :)

Bulk mail is filled with all kinds of stuff like that. I'm a woman but they ask me- Wouldn't I like penis enlargement to please my partner in bed tonight!? (I don't think he'd be pleased if I had any penis, let alone one possibly larger than his!) It's quite satisfying to delete 900+ bulk mail items at once!

3. I doubt DU is the cause. |

They (spammers) have spiders that look on the Internets for posted addresses to spam. So if you posted your e-mail in a post it could have been grabbed that way.
How I avoid spam:
1: Never post your e-mail in a discussion forum. 2: Use a fake hotmail or gmail account to register with forums. Porn sites too. 3: Just never give out your real e-mail to people you don't know. 4: Never unsubscribe from SPAM. That way they know they have real address.
I have had my gmail account with no SPAM for about six months. And I have six invites if you want one. Send a PM

I have a PC and I don't get any spam and I click on all sorts of links here at DU. I only send out my e-mail adress to people I know and to organizations that I want to receive e-mail from that agree to keep that information private. I have yet to get one spam mail and I've had the computer for a year and a half.
However, I do get spyware from the links I click here at DU sometimes. I have Spyblaster, Spybot and Ad-Aware for that.

Spyblaster, Spybot and Ad-Aware are good products to keep your computer clean. Zone Alarm also helps to keep the obtrusive crap out of the way.
Woher kommst du? Ich wohnte drei Jahre in Halle (Saale).

No, I didn't think it comes from DU - but from one of the links I clicked. So there seems to be no possibility to get rid of that Spam I already have *sigh* It is only this one thing though - every two days one mail with pornographic content.
- Oh, I'm living in the Frankfurt area. Freundliche Grüße zurück :) - and happy holidays everybody!
