What's there to do in Vancouver, B.C.
...besides the obvious

  • aquarium (been there)
  • Anthropological museum - on the list
  • Wreck Beach - given
  • Naval museum - need to find it again
  • the suspension bridge - don't quite see the point
  • the resort up on the hill - can't afford it
  • watch sports - blech
  • Grenville Island - been there, done that, the seagulls still hate me

Looks like I'm going to be there next week for a few days.

Try the resturants - check out ethnic areas

eat an American Indian dinner at the only tribal resturant I have ever run across in a large city - and do flavor something with the tradional fish oil.

Take a trip to the island and the garden.

My God a week is not enough time!

:-)

3. I suppose I should explain about the seagulls
Went there on a band trip. I was playing bass drum (and other percussion). We played outdoors on Grenville island waterfront. Beginning of 'Jurassic Park' you have to beat the shit out of the bass drum. Scared every seagull for half a mile around.

5. The gardens at Victoria are supposed to be amazing
Stanley Park is gorgeous, Chinatown, down by the piers there is a farmer's market that is wonderful.

Great city

6. Chinatown!
They have a fantastic one, great food and all kinds of nifty little shops. I'd mention specific places but I was only there for a weekend a few years ago and don't remember names. I just remember I had a blast (and put on a couple of pounds, hehe).

9. Where is the naval museum
I went there once a long time ago. All I can remember is that it's a bit of a drive from downtown, but it's on the water.

10. Go to Gastown...
See the sights, eat at the Old Spaghetti Factory, and do visit the Steam Clock:

Man, there's so much stuff to do in Van it's incredible. Stock up on Douglas Coupland novels before you go, and spend some time walking around matching the geography in the books to the real thing...lots of stuff...
