I'm listening to DirecTV's channel 806 (Sounds of the Season) and the last song I heard was Pat Benatar's "Christmas In America" (2003).

Who knew that it was possible to take a Christmas song and turn it into a jingoistic mess?! YUK!

It's just horrible! Who's her agent? Was she trying to capitalize on the Rah-rah-USA let's-go-to-war sentiment?

They really are. Known them for years. That said...well, the old career just hasn't been really...ummm...robust. Know what I mean? So, when it's time to put some food on the table...well...you do what you gotta do. Like cut bullshit.

And hell...They are both from Ohio, Neal is from a big Italian family from Mahoning...Don't let the occasional ponytail fool ya'. They are both really whitebread.

5. Benatar is an opportunist.

Twenty or so years back, upon the release of her single "Sex as a Weapon," Benatar filled hours of interviewers' tape claiming that she was now a purveyor of high art. Never mind that the title was intentionally misleading in that the lyric went, "*Stop using* sex as a weapon."

As such, I'm guessing her love of Christmas in America is no more genuine than her disgust with those who use sex as a weapon. Fuck Pat Benatar!
