Is there a Doctor in the house? My husband hurt his shoulder skiing
Ok so we were in Utah and he did a flyswat on his snowboard the day before yesterday. No break, and no dislocation, we had x-rays at the ski med center but it hurts like a SOB about 2 inches below the shoulder bone in the rear. He had about 4 inches of noticeable swelling the first day or so but that is gone. No bruising. He can't move his arms up or out to any degree.

1. I am no Dr. but
sounds like what a co-worker went through when he had a torn rotator cuff. It didn't show up on his x-rays.

3. he had surgery
but as a last resort. He did the usual recommended for sports injuries. Therapy, pain pills, cortisone injections, etc.
After six months he finally had surgery.

4. I tore the rotator cuff on my right arm
2 years ago. What you are describing is like what I went thru. Had arm in sling for a week then 3 weeks of physical therapy.

5. Did the physical therapy help or was it a big waste of time?

6. Big waste of time
at age 65 there is only so much you can do. That was the third time I have torn that one in the past 45 years. Still hurts when I lift something heavy.

7. That's what I thought. My husband is 53 & in very good shape.
But I know this is going to be a big blow to him. He relies on his arms for his job and is also very active. He has an appointment on Monday with the Dr., till then...we'll see. Gonna be a bummer for his ski season...

8. Locking.
For reasons of legal liability (and in the best interests of your husband), DU cannot dispense medical advice, and we would urge your husband to seek appropriate medical care either at a hospital emergency room, or by calling 9-1-1. Thank you for understanding.

:)
