One year, they announced that they wouldn't be showing it. My extended family had gathered at my parents house (as we did back then), and my nephew was saying how happy he was that they were NOT showing the Yule Log that year. Without saying a word, my father walked over to the cabinet where he stored his video tapes, selected one, and popped it in the VCR.
He had taped the Yule Log the year before. So we were probably the only family in the New York area watching the Yule Log that year....

It's carried by DIRECTV. I believe that WGN in Chicago and WPIX in New York are owned by the same company.
