Poll question: What would you rather get?
Edited on Sat Dec-25-04 06:14 PM by HypnoToad
I've a parrot and a digital camera.

For $600, I can get a better digital camera or another parrot.

1. You won't have to clean up
more parrot poop if you get the camera.

3. And a camera would get me out more... but,
I've realized today how addicted to technology I am. And it's a real sickness.

7. Does the parrot talk?
Do you really want to listen to more parrot talking AND have more poop to clean up?

5. There's no neither here?
I have a good enough digital camera and a parrot is out of the question because of the cats.

One thing you need (and I'd like to have) with a digital camera is one of those neat photo direct printers. That would be on my list, but really, my family can't afford to buy me such things and I will wait till I can afford it.

6. added... and
My current camera is a sony mavica cd500 - slow but effective and I've an extended warrnaty on it because of the built-in CD drive.

But Fuji has a finepix e550 that looks great and there's a $700 Canon G6 that looks scrummy too. :D But a parrot. One that's more interactive than my current lovely one...

9. Given those options, I would get another parrot
The parrot will last 40 years if you take proper care of it. The digital camera will be out of date three months from now.

However! If it was my $600 I'd buy a Ridgid thickness planer and a Ryobi cart-type portable table saw.

10. Agreed - digital cameras are a commodity. Film will never be as disposable
even though it's a tad trickier.

I should get the best film camera and keep the rest for a parrot. :D

Digital has convieniece, and it is tempting, but film... more control and power.

16. You can't get "the best film camera" for $600
However, you can get a very good one.

I would get a used Nikon 6006 or 8008 with a 35-70 or 28-80 Nikkor on it, put a used SB-24 flash on it, hang it on a nice tripod, and spend the rest on film.

"The best film camera" is debatable, but I like Nikons in 35mm and Mamiyas, Rolleis and Hasselblads in medium-format.

11. get another parrot of the opposite sex/same species
Then they make little parrots and you can have a little part-time income. :-)

I don't breed them any more but I still have a number of parrots and they are great company.

12. My parrot doesn't need a girlfriend...
Then he'll ignore me. :-( And I haven't the patience to hand-raise babies. :-( And as for the noise, oh dear... :D (noise of baby chicks and understandably screaming parents...)
