Help! Sound problems trying to watch DVD on tv w/sound thru stereo!
I have my DVD player hooked up to play the sound through my stereo.
Nothing fancy, just a glorified boom box, and I usually select 5.1 ch to hear the sound from the DVD. There are five speakers including the sub-woofer.
Well, I hear the music, and other sound effects just fine. Just the regular talking voices are hardly audible.
Since hooking this up, I have only watched DVD's from Family Guy.
I rented two movies to watch, and I can't HEAR!
Is there a special button I need to hit on the remote, or could it be that one of the speakers is not working?
Help!

1. So you don't have a center speaker?

2. Check your center channel speaker wiring and/or volume
The center channel is reserved for the voices, so they can maintain the illusion of coming from the picture. More than likely you have the volume for this channel too low, and possibly the rear channels too high.

3. Agreed.
Sounds like the center channel is having problems if you can hear everything but the voices.

4. I have a center speaker...it looks as if it is hooked up right...
but now that you have let me know the center speaker could be the culprit, I will go see what I can do.
Thanks for the quick help!
