Snow in Boston. Lots of It. And the Meterologists F*cked up again.
The snow was supposed to start tonight and snow into tomorrow morning with 3-5" for the Boston area. Instead, it's been snowing ALL DAY and the storm is a coastal one and we already have about 8" on the ground. Near blizzard conditions are happening now, gusts of wind to 40 MPH, and no weather person predicted this.

When all is said and done, we could have 14".

Contrasted to last week when they were all over the TV acting like we were going to get totals like the blizzard of '78 and we got a whopping 2".

Can they ever predict anything? Watching my cats strange behavior before weather events is a better indicator than Dick Albert on Channel 5!

6. To paraphrase Lewis Black...
..."if a carpenter built a house as far off as a weatherman's report,
he'd be doing time."

5. Been lucky here in Chicago this year.
We've dodged a lot of bad weather. Just coming out of a deep freeze, though.

7. We've been lucky too
only one day of brutal cold.

Our bad weather usually starts after New Years. It's coming early this year.

9. I wish I had your problem.
As a snow lover, I envy you. The NWS had a Winter Weather Advisory here, coastal NJ for 4" of snow. We got nothing at all. Zippo - the kids were pissed.

11. No shit, Kathy.
The only thing good about it is that I get Monday off for the holiday (instead of last Friday). It sucked having to work Friday, but now I'm glad I did because I can just stay home tomorrow.

12. I took tomorrow off to get errands done
and it looks like I may be housebound instead. My errands were in the suburbs, and I hate driving in this crap. They haven't been very good at plowing either-I just heard my first plow an hour ago.

16. How much did the area end up with?
My mother-in-law is in the Norwood area and she won't answer the phone if her daughter isn't there with her. So I can't call to find out.

We just got a dusting...and the ski areas could have used the white stuff. Go figure.

19. Thanks.
I was living on the Cape during the '78 blizzard. I think Barnstable County was the only place in Eastern Mass that wasn't closed down completely. My husband stayed home the whole week but I had to go to work. He actually drove home from Lexington during the height of the blizzard.

18. All the way home yesterday
they said 3-6 inches, perhaps 8 on the Cape. We woke up this morning in Hyannis to snow up to our knees. 18 inches easily. Why do I even listen to the morans on TV?

Thankfully I am off all week and my husband's boss told him not to come in.

the element of surprise is there 90% of the time anyway. All that expensive equipment for nothing.
