Poll question: Book person, movie person, or music person? |
|
I love books, but I think I can safely call myself a music person. I do not dislike movies, but I lack interest in them. I watched Elf and Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban near Christmas, and before those, I hadn't seen a recent movie in a while. Both good (Elf is really funny when Buddy acts up, though it probably is too much of a strict comedy to be a Christmas classic. And I got a new crush on Zooey Deschanel. I wonder if I'm alone in thinking that Prisoner of Azkaban wasn't quite as enchanting as the first two Harry Potter movies? Maybe it couldn't be with the new darkness.)
I put in a couple other choices in my poll, too, that account for varying perspectives.

4. Are we talking strictly entertainment reasons here? |
|
I love film as an art form. I try not to be snobby about it, but I practically refuse to see almost all of the major studio releases with only having seen the titles. I'm entertained by movies, but I also look for the aesthetics of it all.
If you're talking pure entertainment value, I'd have to go with video games. How mind numbing!

5. Yeah, I had entertainment in mind |
|
Otherwise I'd say book person, since I can write a lot better than sing. :-)

7. Oh God, isn't that the truth |
|
Movies seem to get worse ever year.
I (for the most part) I loathe action films. I used to go to these movies for "entertainment" value but then decided why give them money and encourage them to make more crap.
There is a great story in the last issue of Entertainment Weekly pointing out the shameful inability of todays films to tell a coherent, intelligent story.

9. I used to be a beer drinking, internet person |
|
Now I'm just an internet person due to doctor's orders.
I bought a couple of non-fiction books recently, but those will be the first books I've read in about 8 months.
I just watched a movie earlier tonight that my niece got me for Christmas, but that was probably the first movie I've seen since last summer.
I listen to the radio a lot on my job, but I haven't bought a music cd since the beginning of this year. And I don't listen to a lot of music when I'm at home.

12. Books! Books books books books books... |
|
I LOVE books, wish I could find a way to make a living working with books. The only memorable thing about the remake of "Sabrina" with Julia Ormond and Harrison Ford was when Sabrina asked her dad (played by John Wood) why he was content to be a chauffeur, he replied "So I could have more time to read."
Music a veeeery close second, though. But I don't go ANYWHERE w/o several books stashed in my bag.

I can't live without my music; I'm a major movie buff, especially old classics, and I'm a voracious reader.
If I could find a way to do all three at once, I probably would...but I gotta save some energy for cooking, eating and sleeping!

I love both but am incredibly picky about both as well.
I enjoy books but I just don't have the same love for them.

I keep a book handy at all times. My dial up connection is so slow, I keep a book by the computer and read while pages load. It doesn't often occur to me to turn on the television - I'd rather read. I like movies and music both but I'm generally reading while listening to music.
