Poll question: Favourite opening song from a movie?
I know fear and loathing had a few of my favourite things...but it broke into combination of the two.

2. What? No Stayin' Alive????
Nothin' like the Travolta strut when you're already high and laughing your ass off.

I really hated the movie, but that has to be one of the all time most laughable opening sequences ever :).

5. What?! No......
"G" suspended 4th chord with four guys running in front of hundreds of screaming fans?

(I can also go with Help! or Yellow Submarine, but they weren't in the opening moments of the movie)

6. My daughter and I were watching this movie...
that opened with 'The Killing Moon'. I told her, 'Any movie opening with an Echo and the Bunnymen song has to be good!' It was! (Donnie Darko)

18. I have to agree.
And, in context, it can be funny as hell. I often wonder what the generation who has never seen the original movie thinks of that song. How does their perspective differ?

12. oh dude, "blazzing saddles" it set the tone for the entire madness
just hearing frankie lane singing like it was "mule train" with the bull whip in the background is such perfect parody that it is in itself a beautiful piece of art.

and a rip-roaring song.

sing along now....

He rode a blazing saddle
He wore a shining star
His job to offer battle
To bad men near and far
He conquered fear and he conquered hate
He turned our night into day
He made his blazing saddle
A torch to light the way

but if you want just music, go with "The "Magnificant Seven"

14. lush life
sung by kenneth branagh in the opening of " Dead Again." Seasoned jazz singers shy away from this very difficult billy strayhorn song.

17. Gods and Generals
I know it wasn't a very popular movie, but check out the opening song by Mary Fahl - "Goin Home." Sung over visuals of the battle flags of different regiments in the Civil War. Induced me to buy the album by her...also very good.
