5. It's more bands who are referred to mostly by the acronym.
Edited on Mon Dec-27-04 10:49 PM by Wat_Tyler
NIN are Nine Inch Nails to me. The only two I let by whose names are abbreviated are ELO and CCR, because no-one ever says Electric Light Orchestra, or Creedence Clearwater Revival.

against people calling them CCR

24. The band is kinda back as CCR though
The other two original members, Doug Clifford and Stu Cook, won the right to use a variation of the name, Creedence Clearwater Revisited. They're not friendly with Fogarty at all. They both basically hate his guts. They've got a guy from The Cars, elliot easton, and two other guys. I've been to a few shows, and they're awesome.

48. Bullshit.
"Creedence" without Fogerty is like "The Beatles" without Lennon & McCartney.

Fogerty wrote every song, sang every song, and played lead guitar on every song. He IS Creedence.

Now having said that, I voted for REM (when they were a 4 man band)

13. Ahem. (clears throat)
When your world is full of strange arrangements

And gravity won’t pull you through

You know you’re missing out on something

Well that something depends on you

All I’m saying, it takes a lot to love you

All I’m doing, you know it’s true

All I mean now, there’s one thing

Yes one thing that turns this grey sky to blue

That’s the look, that’s the look

The look of love

When your girl has left you out on the pavement (goodbye)

Then your dreams fall apart at the seams

Your reason for living’s your reason for leaving

Don’t ask me what it means

Who’s got the look? I don’t know the answer to that question

Where’s the look? if I knew I would tell you

What’s the look? look for your information

Yes there’s one thing, the one thing that still holds true

(what’s that? )

That’s the look, that’s the look

The look of love

If you judge a book by the cover,

Then you’d judge the look by the lover

I hope you’ll soon recover,

Me I go from one extreme to another

And though my friends just might ask me

They say martin maybe one day you’ll find true love

I say maybe, there must be a solution

To the one thing, the one thing, we can’t find

That’s the look, that’s the look

The look of love

That’s the look, that’s the look

The look of love

That’s the look, that’s the look

Sisters and brothers

Should help each other

Oh, oh, oh

Heavens above

That’s the look, that’s the look, hip hip hooray, ay

That’s the look, that’s the look, yippee ai yippee aiay

That’s the look, that’s the look

Be lucky in love

Look of love

20. JFA = Jodie Foster's Army
Not the best band, but a good TLA (Three Letter Acronym)

XTC and ABC aren't acronyms, strictly speaking. XTC is more of a homonym for "ecstacy" and ABC never stood for anything but ABC.

XTC was my number 1 choice, with ABC a close second... they just didn't have the staying power...

Put 'em up, put 'em uuuuuup! Which one of you first? I'll fight ya both together if you want. I'll fight ya with one paw tied behind my back. I'll fight ya standin' on one foot. I'll fight ya with my eyes closed.(To the Tin Woodsman) Oh, pulling an axe on me, hey? (To the Scarecrow) Sneakin' up on me, hey? Why, gnong-gnong!
Tin Man: Here, here. Go away and let us alone!
Lion: Oh, scared, huh? Afraid, huh? (To the Tin Woodsman) How long can you stay fresh in that can? Ha-ha-ha-ha. Come on, get up and fight, ya shivering junkyard. (To the Scarecrow) Put your hands up, ya lopsided bag of hay.
Scarecrow: Now that's getting personal, Lion!
Tin Man: Yes, get up and teach him a lesson.
Scarecrow: What's wrong with you teachin' him?
Tin Man: W-w-w-ell, I hardly know 'im.

I've been a fan since I was a little kid in the 1970s. Even though I've gone through many different 'phases', I still keep my ELO records and CDs around, just because the production and songs sound so good-- even 30+ years later.

(and by ELO I mean any version with Jeff Lynne in it. Bev Bevan's 'ELO Part II' thingy is an embarrassment.

It doesn't really suck, but there was nothing you could really point to as a hit single, like Evil Woman or anything.

/digitized my old ELO LP's so I can listen to them in my car's MP3 player.
