1. Good for you to be so creative and get "a new home", too!
I'm happy for you!

This is my 1 year anniversary on DU! :D

This is my request for "Help!" from the administrators on DU ..a year ago!

"Subject: Help!
Excuse me, but I'm new at this and I don't see where I'm suppose to "compose a new message" to start being able to use the message board. It says compose a new message but I can't find a place for it. Thank you for your website! Respectfully, zidzi"

"Hi there,

Before you can post your own "thread" (new topic) you have to respond to a few other threads first - this is a security measure we use to deter disruptors.

To reply to someone else's post, just click the small "Reply" link that you will find at the bottom right of their message. Then you can enter your response.

To start your own thread, go to the appropriate forum for the topic you wish to discuss, and click the "post" button, which you will find among the icons at the top of the screen.

Hope that helps!

Thanks, and welcome,
DU

2. I wish I could sew,
Edited on Fri Sep-26-03 11:51 PM by Girlfriday
I was a miserable failure. I flunked the sewing part of home-ec in eighth grade and was barred in ninth. :dunce:

edited/spelling - (I swear I didn't fail spelling too!)

7. I love to sew, just don't do it very often.
Be careful about bragging about it. I wore a great outfit I sewed to work once and when people asked me about it, I was more than happy to brag. I got positively inundated with requests to sew Halloween costumes, bridal gowns, you name it. I tried to tell them I only sewed for myself and that I even stuck to easier sewing patterns for time's sake, and one person took my refusal as a personal rejection.

Mind you, this is a library we are talking about . . .

Good luck--I sewed some great drapes with a retro look a couple of years ago.

8. I Love To Sew Too!!!
Curtains are easy. PLEATED and lined drapes are very difficult... but doable if you take your time.

In any case... it's always fun and always CHEAPER than having a professional make custom-made drapes and curtains.

Sometimes the "ready to hang" stuff at K-mart is cheaper than the fabric to make your own... but... they don't always have the style or color that I want.

9. Not far from my house is an off-price upholstery fabric shop.
When I bought the fabric for my curtains (my mistake, they are curtains), it was (I'm not kidding) $1 a yard; 72 inches wide! They store has since been sold, but the prices are still awesome.

My beauties cost all of 30 dollars, and they look great.

Go ahead, envy me!
