14. Let me get this straight - are you insinuating that he uses tax-payer
money to buy personal gifts?

Does he have a debit card from the National Treasury?

16. Maybe some WH presidential adviser chose them specially.....
like they usually do.

Or do you actually imagine Shrub wnet all the way to Wallmart or whatever and came upon that must-have present for Pickles, the matching crockery she always wanted but couldn't find on cable tv shopping malls?????

19. I just think that saying "these gifts were bought on the wages of the
proletariat" - its a waste of energy

13. He earns $400,000 a year as President.
Which we taxpayers foot.

And I think his personal finances are in a blind trust.

So, yeah...we paid for those dishes.

15. Ok then - what about presents Clinton gave?
Is the man to take a vow of poverty? I buy gifts - does that mean that my company's shareholders' money bought them?

This is a bit too much for me, sorry.

17. Well, if Clinton bought the presents from his salary...
As President, then same thing: we bought them.

It's not a question of him taking a vow of poverty. We taxpayers pay the President's salary. It's not a judgement one way or another.

18. You may not like it, but he is the President
He gets the President's salary. He may not earn it. He should have been fired during his last review, but he is the President.

22. Yes, he's the President. And he gets the President's salary.
But we taxpayers pay his salary. As well as the $100,000 pension for life he'll receive when he leaves office.

I'm saying that if he used funds from his salary to pay for his wife's gifts, then technically we paid for those gifts.

Farish, in charge of Shrub's blind trust since '96, as Poppy's from 1980-92.....

Farish, who got booted out of the US embassy to the UK in July this year and can't be replaced until his boss coughs up for a new ambassadorial residence.....having forfeited Winfield House in Regent's Park in a lawsuit.....hehehe.

20. It proves the point that the pugs want to regress women
that - to me - is a HUGE point. They absolutely love Laura - a wimp of a woman - who chain smokes in private - probably talks dirty too!

32. Maybe she got a personal gift from her husband.
I'm no fan of either GW or his mealy-mouthed wife, but I do think it's possible that he did give her a personal gift that wasn't announced to the world. Do you really think ALL she got was china and ALL he got was a raincoat?

But dessert plates. Give me a break. What a cheap-ass! We pay him $400,000 a year. If he's sleeping on the couch for a few days, I've got a smilie just for him :nopity:
