NYE Shows Suck, and are a commentary on life in general

So I'm looking at the news that this new years is being hosted by Regis...and as i read further into the article i see the names of people who also want to host NYE shows, and we get names like Carson Daly and Ryan Seacrest. Also this years show will be co-hosted by none other than ashley simpson.

This all leads me to wonder...who buys into this crap? All of these people are vacuous human beings with really nothing substantial to offer anyone, yet they're the ones who get the ratings. Who are these people that eat whatevers thrown at them, and why are they content to accept the lowest of the low as entertainment. Can't we do better?

There needs to be a new rating system for tv programs...ones that are idiot friendly, and ones that require a decent IQ. No wonder I don't have cable.
