20. I Played With Him And His Band

He's a friend of a friend. I was the hotshot out of Chicago. Played both piano and guitar with them for one set. Don't really care for that kind of music, but i could play it quite well just the same.

We have a very good friend (social worker) who lives in Key West. She's known Jimmy since before he was somebody. So, they've been friends for a long, long time.

Anyway, she told him long before that if i was ever down there, he had to let me sit in, even if it was only at his club. That he would have to come down there, play and let me work with him. He said, sure.

Turned out that he was doing a club on South Beach for 3 nights, and she called her marker. So, i drove from KW to SB with my wife and he was good to his word. It didn't make me a fan, though. But, he was a nice enough person.
