You have got to be kidding |
|
What music are you listening to?
What movie did you see last or like the most?
Do you realize how much your mind is taken by the corporate fools?
Say hello to peace of mind.
How much of what you see or listen to is given to you on a silver platter by the corporate fucks?
Think.

Some of us are capable of actually using reason to figure things out for ourselves, rather than being brainwashed by watching a movie or listening to music.
You do realize this is the argument that the Fundies use to try and ban disfavored things? "It will corrupt the children!"
Being against corporate control of the country is one thing, but I'd like to think that most of us are intelligent enough to enjoy a movie from the (admittedly nasty) MPAA, without subscribing to their politics.
Thought.

The music I like most is from bands that get very little support from the media giants. They make most of their money touring anymore. Or, they're bands that haven't existed for 5, 10, 20, even 30 years. How much airplay does Spock's Beard get? How about Gentle Giant or King Crimson? They are around because they're (or they were) GOOD at what they do, and it's the love and support of fans that keeps them around. Not big $$$$ beer company sponsorships and merchandising.
As for movies, I'll watch anything out there that seems good to me in premise, but I couldn't care less about individual actors or anything. I tend to avoid the "blockbuster hits" because I find many of them to be hokey and even patronizing sometimes.
I don't think the "corporate fools" are controlling my mind or my thoughts to any appreciable degree. I judge everything based on its own merits and say screw the hype!
It is possible to indulge in mass entertainment without being assimilated. :)

but if one has a mind, assimilation won't happen. Musically or visually or emotionally. It won't happen.

Now, if they would only start teaching our children something useful in school. Like, say, critical thought? :eyes:

Like in grade 11. Everyone here has realized it, then you get past it and pick and choose your own thing. I don't need to be part of any social order..I'm secure with liking what I like...usually by coincedence it is not corporate fed though. I find most of that scene to lack quality.

Mostly socially-aware music.
The last movie I saw was Star Trek Nemesis and I certainly did not like it the most.
Corporations take us all in some form or another. From necessities like food to any vices we have. Even the people who love their sports; corporations are humping the money out of it too.
These days I'm very selective about what I will buy. I will know as much as I can about it before trying it. Despite copy protection, the industry hasn't released its restrictive "no-return" policy on DVDs because of the fear that somebody will copy it. :eyes: So, in return, they don't get my money. Not even Michael Moore. He's rich enough and does not need my help to become rich anymore - I love ya Mike, but reality's called me.
We consumers give the silver platters to the corporate fucks.
Which is why I'm moving to Linux from Windows for one thing. Won't support MS anymore. Fortunately my DVD collection is done, nothing new to get there. Except for one or two titles but they're no rush right now!
