1. That depends on whether you have 100 bucks to blow |

But if you do....I would definitely go. He came here to Atlantic City briefly. (When he was no longer president). We waited outside for him and he stopped and shook everyone's hand he could reach which was most of them because there were not a lot of people. The event had not been publicised much in advance. I was thrilled to see him. He is as wonderful in person as he is on TV.

If it toward the end of the month, there is a great chance that we will be home visiting family. I would love to go, and take my wife and daughter (daughter lives in Winnipeg, but probably doesn't have the hundred either-technically, I don't either, but would consider it worthwhile to have the opportunity)

Louisiana (LaFayette-University of Louisiana) on a two year research assignment. I couldn't leave my teaching responsibilities, so am stuck in College Station, Texas (working on my dissertation). We see each other about once a month, when she makes the trip home, but are planning to come up for Christmas. The grandkiddos grow much too fast and we don't like missing too much of their childhoods.

11. My wife is from Winnipeg |
|
I am from the northeastern US, but am multicultural, having been raised in my parents' culture (they were convinced that the soviets would leave my ancestral home very quickly-didnt' quite happen that way). When my wife introduces me to her long-time friends, she always introduces me as her American expatriate husband-LOL. Incidentally, when my parents were trying to decide where to go after WWII, they told my grandmother that they were considering the US. Her response was vehement, telling them that they shouldn't even consider t, but should go to Canada instead (she was a Brit, but was born and raised in Germany). I have many relatives in Canada, but mostly around Toronto, and Ottawa. Still, all things considered, I love Winnipeg, especially Folklarama, which we always try to make during the summer (wife was one of the regular entertainers for the German pavillion during her younger days). Anyway, our daughter and grandchildren live in Winnipeg, as do mom-in-law and my wife's great aunt (both now in their 90s). Our son moved down here to go to college and recently married an American woman, but they have some plans to move back up to Winnipeg in a few years. Maybe there will be a job opening at UM or UW when the time is right-sigh!

12. Well, it's nice to find people so fond of Winnipeg.... |
|
it actually is a very inclusive and easy going "town". The cultural events like Folklorama really make it stand out in my opinion.
Say hello to your wife for me. From a fellow Pegger. :bounce:
