What do my fellow DUers watch on TV?
After this year I am thru getting any of the news from television.

I will only be watching the Simpsons, the Comedy Channel, and American Chopper(Paul Sr. is a good guy... which I like).

Is there anything else worth watching?

I also watch sports and movies, but I really don't count those as "tv" shows.

1. The Apprentice
A better critique of capitalism, and particularly the culture that thrives at the head of large corporations you won't find. Well maybe you could, but it's still pretty good.

I also enjoy the West Wing and the Simpsons and Grounded for Life.

3. I don't really have a favorite show
I'm usually to busy with the kids to sit down and watch tv. I usually just have it on the network comedy shows. Mostly I listen to AAR or watch C-Span.

6. If you watch the Simpsons,
stick around another half hour for Arrested Development. I made an exception to my "no new shows" rule for that show. It's hilarious.

Deadwood is great. Surpassed only by The Wire (the best HBO show IMHO). Looking forward to Carnivale as well, I like the supernatural stuff in the show.

The Ali G Show is the funniest on TV.

I swear Im not an HBO employee! Other than their Sunday lineups, I really only watch some sports, particularly the NBA and baseball. Not into football. Occasionally Ill watch a poker tournament(although I would hesitate calling it a sport), however when I do this I mute the sound as I find the announcers on those programs very annoying...

EDIT: I forgot about IRON CHEF!!

31. Starting in January they will play the entire first season
of Deadwood, then they'll start the second season. This has to be the best Western series I've ever seen.

8. Sadly, I used to be a news junkie before the election and really
only watched news shows, anything on ABC,NBC,CBS, and all cable news even Fox occasionally. I even listened to NPR religiously in the car. I now cannot stand to have any news show on for more than 5 minutes.

I too do not like watching sitcoms. They bore me. However, you can say I've regressed or my mind has turned to mush but the only show I now watch regularly is pathetically Desperate Housewives on ABC on Sunday nights. Sad but true!

Edited on Wed Dec-29-04 08:57 AM by stewert
I watch Bill Moyers Now and Frontline on PBS, those are the only 2 news shows I watch on TV. Of course I watch the O'Reilly factor because I own the website.

I watch American Chopper, Monster Garage, Monster House, American Hot Rod, Overhauling, NFL football, college basketball (Illinois is #1) and undefeated, Seinfeld, Everybody loves Raymond, Rides, John Stewart and the comedy channel, and all the Chopper building shows like the great biker build off etc.

Letterman, Leno, Conan, and once in a while Jimmy Kimmel. Howard Stern TV show, the sci-fi channel has some good movies and shows once in a while too. I also watch the Sopranos but we have to rent them because we do not have HBO.

I hate the spin offs.

House (on last night) with Hugh Laurie

Monk (I love Tony S. and the "It puts the lotion in the basket" guy who plays Monk's boss!)

The Daily Show

Sopranos (because I have to see where it goes)

Dead Like Me (just canceled!)

The first 5 minutes of ABC Evening News w/ Peter Jennings

The rest of my TV time is movies and Netflix films.

18. Don't really watch that much....
I do make it a point to catch CBS news - especially since I found out that it's owner (Viacom) is a major contributor to the Democratic Party. Also, our local CBS news out of Nashville is good and seems to have a progressive slant. I don't get into those silly sitcoms. Things like Law & Order are good. The wife likes the CSI shows.

27. ...
While I don't watch much television, I watch mostly sports shows, with PTI and SportsCenter being the daily must-see-TV. I like to catch Leno/Letterman/Daily Show/Conan, since American Forces Network actually provides good timing, where I can catch the first half (interviews are boring) of the late shows, and The Daily Show in one neat 2-hour period.

Other than that, I watch The Sopranos, Friends on DVD, Joey, Simpsons, South Park, etc.

I miss good TV. :(

(I live in Japan on an AF base)

That is about the extent of what I really watch these days. And the occasional movie. I used to be a die hard news watcher and haven't had the news on since the election. I don't even miss it any longer.

when Bewitched is on, GSN only in the mornings when old game show reruns are on (if only that channel was what it once was...), movies. Once in a while Will & Grace or something like that.

There are NO primetime "Big Four" network shows I watch regularly.

That's pretty much it besides sports/movies.

Oh but I'll be watching American Idol when it starts again, and possibly Monk. Not sure it'll be as good without Bitty.

oops on edit: Forgot to add that I sometimes watch Countodwn with Keith Olbermann and MXC.
