This is freakin' disgusting . . .
Edited on Wed Dec-29-04 01:49 PM by ET Awful
I'm doing a Google search for puppy pictures, just so a can find some pics for the hell of it. I do a search on Google for "fluffy puppy" (basically, I need a super fuzzy pic for a little collage thing I'm doing for my sister). But, what do I find on the 3rd or 4th page of the search?

http://images.google.com/images?q=fluffy+puppy&hl=en&lr=&start=40&sa=N

Look at the third picture over in the top row (pic of a young girl giving a dog a bath), then look at the website name and click the link. This person is selling videos of what appears to be his young daughter posing in bikinis, etc.

Is it just me, or does there appear to be something severely WRONG here?

Somebody just put an image off of a commercial site on his personal image page. It very well may not be his daughter at all.

We don't know what else he might be doing, and it's not worth the risk to her to just wait and see if something really bad happens. Selling DVD's of your young daughter in a bikini is sick, no matter what the technicalities of the law might say.

43. Go ahead if you must, but why do you think the FBI will care?
There are plenty of professional, respected modeling agencies that use children. Granted, their pictures tend to be in better taste, but the law applies equally to all of them. If they're not violating any laws (and I don't see anything illegal here) they have the right to do business.

Expressing your displeasure with the parents or "agency" is a viable alternative, though.

47. Because
if enough people inundate them with requests for action, it may help to spur some sort of change, might it not?

The agency doesn't give a flying fuck who's displeased... they're making MONEY. Ditto for the 'parents'.

50. You're trying to change the law by contacting law enforcement?
Legislators would be a much better option. Send the links to your legislators. THEY'RE the ones with the power to change things, not some poor agent sitting at his desk who just has to enforce them.

53. Unfortunately
they get money to pass the laws the people with money like.

Why do you think trafficking in humans is so profitable and easy? Because they won't pass laws to make it hard and expensive.

You do it your way, I'll do it mine. :)

They're using all the code words:

Buffalo CD  This is the first work ever done by Cindy and me, Curt Newbury. All these were taken when Cindy was living in Buffalo, Texas in the spring of 2002. This contains many high-res images of the following series: Trees, Blue Dress, Snake, Headshots, White Shorts, Swim Suit plus some hilarious out takes. A short video of out first VideoChat. An audio letter from Cindy to her new fans containing her now infamous "Aw." This sound is a cat-like exclamation of happiness from Cindy. There is no more engaging sound on the planet

New!!! California Dreaming CD  Pictures are from our trip to California, Cindy on the Cliffs, Beachgirl, Floral Swimsuit, and Goofy, some of Cindy's best and most creative dance moves. New!!! Swimmingly CD  Blue Swimsuit , Flowered (Boycut) Swimsuit, Pink Lipstick and First Fittings. More Cindy antics cavorting about in a variety of fetching situations. In Ping Lipstick Cindy mixes many coming of age looks and fascinating attitudes. On First Fittings she demonstrates new Jeannies designs, custom made for Cindy in her own, outrageus and memorable way.
"

61. So if there is a perv who gets off on the underwear ads in Sears cat.,
Seriously, if there are pervs out there who get off on the underwear ads in the Sears catalogue, or from looking at the pictures in 17 magazine, does that make the sears catalogue and seventeen magazine porn?

Sorry, but just because someone might use the material for perverted purposes does not transform otherwise legal pictures into illegal kiddie porn.

This reminds me of all the reports I have read of child porn prosecutions because motophoto personnel report people who take pictures of their kids in the bathtub. Hey, you never know, the kids may be in danger, lets make some accusations and ruin some lives.

Saw a special on VS models the other day. Apparently one VS manager said "send her home, she looks like a kid."

They didn't send her home.

Obviously she wasn't 11, but still.....in general, young looking, "teen" looking girls are considered very sexy by a number of men.

73. Oh definitely--
I'm not meaning to equate VS with that disgusto site you linked to.

I'm in agreement with everyone that that site is creepy. Glad you forwarded it to a detective.

68. This is one of the grey areas where the law really can't help too much.
The problem is, the purveyers of such pseudo-child-porn will always find a way to be just inside the law.

I would be surprised if law enforcement is not keeping an eye on them, just waiting for them to put one toe over the line. But as long as the naughty bits are covered, it doesn't matter how provocatively they pose.

It's very difficult to craft a law to shut such things down without trampling other freedoms... current child porn laws skirt the limits of the First Amendment, making it a crime even to possess it.

What about images where no human was filmed? With ever-better computer graphics, you could synthesize porn pics of anybody, real or fictional, that would be virtually indistinguishable from the real thing.

I'm afraid the only real way to deal with this that i can think of is to publicise the promoters... go to the local news with the story, with the domain owner's name. Let the news run an investigation, and track down the photographers, parents and promoters, and expose them to their community. The resulting social alienation will likely put a damper on it.

I'd email the folks at http://www.perverted-justice.com

They expose adults who troll the net, looking to have sex with children. They may have some suggestions for combatting this.

76. Here's the email I sent to the DMN.
I used feedback@dallasnews.com

Dear Dallas Morning News:
This is not meant as a letter to the editor but as a story suggestion, thank you. I have just been made aware of an internet phenomenon known as "child modeling." These websites feature photograph packages of children that are quite legal to sell -- they are not child pornography -- but it requires only a cursory glance at the website to realize that the likely customers are, in fact, pedophiles. Take, for example, the website: http://www.cindymodel.com/

This website features membership at $19.95 a month, or you can purchase CDs and DVDs for prices such as $79.95.
http://www.cindymodel.com/Openingpagesart/CindyManiaBundle.htm

For example, the "Buffalo CD" described as: "This is the first work ever done by Cindy and me, Curt Newbury. There is no more engaging sound on the planet."

This domain is maintained by "Curt Newbury Studios" here in Dallas:

I would appreciate it if the Dallas Morning News would consider doing an article on this phenomenon, especially as this website is local. Although there is nothing ILLEGAL going on here, I find the whole proposition quite appalling. This child's image is being sold at phenomenal prices for pedophiles to enjoy. What must this do to her self-image? One wonders what she will think of the whole thing when she realized that, in effect, she has served as fodder for sick people's fantasies. The whole thing disgusts me.

78. Ever seen a childrens beauty pagent?
Nothing different going on here. It disturbs me but there is an entire industry based on the presentation of children dressed as provactative adults. It manages to fly just below the radar of child porn. But it exists.

81. "Do you want to model?"
They have a link for this! On the main page.

This is the address. cnewbury@swbell.net

I don't think this is just a dad selling pics of his daughter.
There seems to be an entire industry (Child Supermodels)

This is sick. I can't believe what I'm seeing.

Their "mission statement":

We here at CindyModel sort of have our own way of talking and looking at things. It's an attitude. It's a way of life. Some things can only be said in a certain way and convey the meaning of a mutual experience.

In Love Story, it was, “Loving someone means never having to say you’re sorry." A bit sticky.

In Terminator, Arnold said, “I’ll be back.” It had this ominous resonance.

There was a fantastic movie called Putney Swope. The key line I remember was, “Just don’t send me the laundry bill.” A great line.

In Angel Heart, Louis Cypher said, “The future’s not what it used to be.” One of my all time favorites.

If someone sneezes or coughs violently one could politely ask, “Did you get any on you?”

But, here at CindyModel, where the real world gives way to the hills and pastures of long-forgotten Arcadia, it’s “You know who you are, so go for it.” It works in any number of situations. The significance is deep and mysterious

:wtf:
