Am I the only one having nightmares about drowning?
Ever since the Tsunami, I have been having constant nightmares about being underwater. I can't look at the footage anymore.

Anyone Else?

1. Not me.
Sounds like you've been watching too much coverage. Maybe it's time to stop!

2. I drowned once. It wasn't so bad
When I was a kid I went swimming and got my hair caught in a pool drain. They tell me I had no pulse when they started CPR.

At first, I was panicked, but as oxygen deprivation set in, I experienced a sense of euphoria. I saw everything with crystal clarity, the legs of the other swimmers, the sun on the water coming through, a leaf that had falle into the pool. Then, I went to sleep. The next thing I knew, I was on the side of the pool puking water, and there were like, fifty kids looking at me. Also, my top was off, but I was too sick to care 'til later (this was a public pool, and I was 11). Drowning really isn't the worst way to go, IMHO.

Small comfort, I know.

3. Nope
For me, it's falling...
aaaaiiiiiieeeeee...........!

Or being in deep water and getting bitten in half by a giant moray eel. That one comes from a stupid movie I saw when I was 11.

5. The Wednesday before Christmas I dreamed
we were hit by a tidal wave. It was pretty terrifying. Haven't had one since though. Since I've had dreams of people dying who are close to me and unfortunately had them come true, I get even more freaked out now when I have these kinds of dreams.

6. If you really want to freak yourself out about drowning
There is a description of it in "The Perfect Storm" that I couldn't read all the way through. Really chilling. I couldn't help thinking that it mite have been taken from some Nazi medical experiment.

7. I used to have those all the time
back when I was a teenager and young adult. But I probably haven't had one in 10 years. I thought that they could be related to sleep apnea or sleeping with your face down in the pillow. But I really have no idea what those dreams are supposed to represent.

8. I kinda drowned once - in puke.
During a difficult delivery when the anesthesiologist had failed to show up (midnight in a smaller town) the OB panicked and decided to put me out (malpractice - but I didn't sue since I came out the other side). Of course that corn dog and beans I had had for lunch immediately went into my lungs. I then knew nothing until I started to come to and had one of those nightmarish experiences that used to scare the fire out of me as a kid. There used to be those old afternoon movies where someone could not move and were being buried alive. They could think but not move. I started hearing and being aware of what was happening and realizing I really could not breathe. I was trying to hard to open my eyelids and eventually I did. Once I could speak (move lips - had a tube in my throat) I motioned to the crew around my bed that I couldn't breathe. Thankfully the doctor (new one) saw me and told me he knew I couldn't but they were working on it, which reassured me greatly. They were lavaging my lungs with water to clean them out. They would fill my lungs up, I would get to the point of passing out and then they would let me breathe. They did this over and over. It was like dying multiple times. Never saw a tunnel or had any warm fuzzy experience. Just wanted them to leave me the heck alone.
