1. Stutterers dont stutter when they sing. I'm a stutterer and know this. |
|
Its an uninterupted flow where in speech there are breaks.

and he explained it something like that. If memory serves, he said that in songs the words are already written and he just sings them in order. But when he's speaking there are too many words to choose from as he's coming up with the sentence in his head.
I've also heard that when a stutter hears his own stammering words, it just makes the stuttering worse... but if they can't hear themselves speak, they don't stutter. (For example, trying to speak over a loud TV or wearing headphones and listening to music while speaking at the same time.)

This was just the first thing I could come up with to copycat your British singer thread, Allen.

I tried a device called a "masker". A small mic-like device held on my throat that picked up speech vibrations and sent a buzzing sound, via earpiece, whenever I spoke. I wouldnt stutter but my speech was slow and monotone. I discontinued using it for wearing the device made me very self conscious. It was obvious.

I remember a story about him and another famous guy in a hotel room. (can't remember who it was Haggard or someone like that)
That in the middle of the night their room was being broke into. Mel kept on trying to wake up the other guy, but couldn't get the words out. So he had to sing the other guy awake so they could get rid of the burglers.

I have held conversations with him where he has not stuttered more than any other person may occasionally stumbled over a word.
