Here's a question for the fashion loving bunch |
|
Going to a party tonight, I don't know many of them but it's in the young, student/artist/people who dig the grubby earthy yet cultured scene part of town, it's kinda like "The village" in NYC. What should I wear?

1. First of all, don't go dressed like the guy in the sig line... |

Unless, you put on the sport jersey, get black ass-drooping jeans, and try some corn-rows. Then would be shoes OK...
On edit: You could always wear a DU t-shirt and make a political statement...

3. It's clothes that make the man... |
|
As opposed to nudity...
Hear are few sensible fashion tips from Scaramouche:
Never, ever wear an ascot unless you want to be thought a pompous ass;
Bow ties, are never coming back in style outside of Black-Tie occassions;
Never suffer for fashion's sake....
Good Luck!!!

5. Make sure that the ascot has a matching kerchief... |
|
in the breast pocket...Go with the silk ascot under the white or light-clolored shirt... The jacket should be darker but in the same color spectrum...Contrast is important!
Extra point: socks match the color of the shirt...

When in doubt you can never go wrong with khaki flat-front chinos/cargo pants. I don't know how fancy this party will be, but a black shirt that buttons down the front with the sleeves rolled is safe. Wear black loafers and a barn coat (in any color you have, but navy,)to complete your look. For a more casual look substitute in a black turtleneck or t-shirt. If you are a little more daring, I love to see men in fitted buttoned shirts with a fun pattern (think Abercrombie for adults,) and black pants. To me, this crowd would frown on anything with a label, so don't show up in anything with a Tommy H. flag or RL on it.
*General rule: It is always better to be a little overdressed because you can pretend you have somewhere fancier to go later in the evening.

11. I don't trust that method |

Last night I was wearing a grey blazer with sort of yello plaid crosses and dark brown pants with a yellow shirt, a bunch of gay guys told me it didn't match...BUT THE YELLOW SHIRT CLEARLY BRINGS OUT THE YELLOW CROSS PATTERN!
