Downloading Music
My friend recently came to me with a question about downloading music.
"hey what do you know about the lil music kazaa thing, cus i dunno like what to do, should i delete files or not?"
I have not been following the whole ordeal, but I did hear that the music industry is suing children for downloading music. So my question is, being someone who had never downloaded files from Kazaa because of my incredibly slow internet connection and computer, should she delete the files, or save them?
Thank you

1. Save them.
I'll bet they'll help make the decision about which cds to buy later. ;)

2. she should move them out of the "shared folder" at the very least
at the very least, she should move all of the contents of the C:\Program Files\KaZaA Lite\My Shared Folder to another folder.

3. I would delete them
and then use a "file shredder" to remove traces of the deleted files. You can find free file shredders if you do a Google on file+shredder. BTW if your friend wants backups, the entire house is probably subject to search.

The RIAA is being allowed to initiate and execute its own search warrants without a judge's approval This is so unbelievably unconstitutional that I have to believe huge payoffs are being made to continue it.

7. they're not going after downloaders
Only people sharing, and only those sharing over 1,000 files. Well, and the occasional thug grandma.

Don't worry about it at all.

Personally, I use WinMX, which hasn't hit the RIAA radar at all, yet.
