David Blaine - who cares?
Don't know how much you see of this in the US but we currently have David Blaine, "magician", suspended in a see-through box over the River Thames, half-way through a 44-day stretch without food. Why? You may well ask. Now some folks on the IMDB site are getting very upset because the British Public aren't treating him with the respect due to a 'Major Brand Name'. Apparently, in NYC passers-by only shouted abuse at him - I'm proud to say that some of our citizens have been throwing stuff at him, presumably as a way of pointing out what a prat he is. What's going on here (apart from this jerk standing to make a lot of money from this)? Don't you have rivers over there that you could suspend him over?

1. Thank you
I care more about the steam off my piss than I do about Blaine's antics.

He's not a magician he's a performer.

What's a prat, I've heard it lots, but what is the exact meaning?

4. A Prat...
A fool... a jerk... an idiot... there's definitely an element of foolishness in there, though. George Bush is a prat, for example. Tony Blair is just a fool.

5. :"What's a prat"
PRAT
From Adams Douglas: “In some British magazines I have noticed the word prat, which seems in context to mean a fool or stupid person. Is this related to pratfall?”
It is, yes. Prat in this sense means “backside; buttocks”, first recorded in the sixteenth century but of unknown origin. A pratfall is a comedy fall on to the buttocks. The British slang sense dates from the 1960s and means an incompetent, foolish or stupid person. It became popular in the 1980s. It isn’t obscene, but it’s a sharp expression of criticism or abuse.

going "global." He was a great deal more interesting when he did "street magic" and slight of hand than all these endurance tricks. Maybe you guys will take him down a peg or two!
BTW, welcome to DU, mr blur

Those Yobs are falling into his trap. This stunt is getting way more publicity now. Saps. Blaine is laughing in your face.
