10. Who is "Ignore" and why did they choose such a stupid screen name?
:7 I mean really - it congers up all sorts of images of Glenn Close in that horrid movie.

And the last time I checked, I wasn't being chased by my own poop or anything, but that would be really scary! Especially if it were still somehow attached to my ass!

5. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A CHOCOLATE MARTINI
There are Chocolate cocktails - but there are NO chocolate martinis, no matter what any "bartending" or "drink" book might tell you, and contrary to an egregious plethora of misnamed drink menus at restaurants.

A Martini (always capitalized, since it's a name) is a mix of gin and vermouth with an olive (and, bowing to a side tradition, can also be vodka and vermouth with an olive, but those are always called "Vodka Martinis", never just a "Martini").

That's it.

The only thing that can be called a Martini is, in fact, an actual Martini.

Any other drink is either a cocktail or a mixed drink.

So all your "appletinis" and "chocotinis" and "chocolate martinis" can go hang themselves, nomenclature-wise.

15. Well, I'm a purist, both when it comes to drinks, and also to language
I am appalled at the number of useless morons around this country who think that "cocktail" and "Martini" are interchangable words.

It's the exact same kind of unforgivable and unpardonable and unnecessary stupidity that would equate the words "mammal" and "dog" and use them interchangably.

18. No, it's simply too embarassing
Not that I am not fully proud of the erotic self-abuse it entailed; but still, one needs to keep some things private to build, you know, mystery.

16. Amen, brother!
And you have to add the vermouth correctly, too. You don't just mix in vermouth!

You put ice in the shaker, add half a jigger of good dry vermouth, shake, then strain out all the liquid, give it another shake, and strain again. Then you add two jiggers of good gin, shake, strain into a Martini glass. and add an olive with pimento on a wooden toothpick.

(Can you tell I grew up behind the bar?)

22. Well, duh - there's only one Martini, as I said,
so that would be my favorite.

The only variations possible in Martinis is on the dry-wet scale. Even if you change the garnish from olive to something else, you've changed the name of the drink.

Just as "dog" and "Black Labrador" are NOT interchangable words, so also "Martini" and "cocktail" are not interchangable. Cocktail and Dog are the same - they are categories. Martini and Black Lab are the specific.
