Have you ever stopped shopping somewhere for a silly reason? |
|
About 8 or 9 years ago, I was sent to a collection agency by a video rental chain that rhymes with "lackluster" over $3. I have never spent a penny there again. And I never will. It was only $3 but I think about it every time I see a commercial from that place or drive by one.
They decided a $3 late fee was more valuable to them than I was as a customer. They got their $3.
Has anyone ever been so badly pissed off by a store that you've never gone back? Especially if it's over something little like $3.

I bounced a check at my grocery store a number of years back - it was only for ten dollars and it was an honest mistake and I'd never, ever bounced a check there before.
I had not even received notice from the bank when a cop came to my door with a warrant for my arrest! No joke. Evidently the store had a "zero tolerance" policy with bounced checks and they automatically reported every one of them to the police.
I was alone at home with my three small children and the cop peeked in and saw them all so he told me he could just accept $15 for the bail and let me stay home. I said, "Could you take a check?" (I had no cash)
Luckily he had a sense of humor and he gave me 24 hours to come in with the 15 bucks. I've never set foot in that store again and that was over 20 years ago.

I made an order on line and had problems with a coupon code. I sent them an e-mail with my order number and all the pertinent info requesting they apply the code. There e-mail back requested all the info that was already listed in my original e-mail. Not only was this annoying, I found it offensive and insulting. I told them to keep their $5.00 and apply it to their training budget to teach their customer service reps how to read. They will never get a penny from me again

6. I will never again eat at Checkers |
|
I ordered a chicken sandwich, and specified no honey mustard, but add mayonaise. After waiting for 15 minutes on said chicken sandwich, I realized when I sat down that it did not have mayonaise. After waiting in line AGAIN to ask for mayonaise, I was told that they did not have any.
To top it all of, when I sat back down to eat my dry chicken sandwich, my boyfriend opened up his burger and it had mayonaise all over it. I was pissed and vowed never to eat there again.
However, last week, I broke my vow after 3 years and ordered two chicken sandwiches, add tomatoes. After an annoying drive-thru person pissed me off, and I confirmed twice that they had tomatoes on them, I asked AGAIN at the window. When I got home, of course, no tomatoes. I will renew my vow never to eat there.

7. I had a similar "lackluster" experience. |
|
The late fees on a movie I returned were up to $68 when they sent me to collections. I just stopped going there, moved, and collection activities stopped.
BTW, the movie sucked and I've seen it in the bargain bin for $4.99 since, so at $68 bucks that's a lot of copies to replace it with.

In case you wanted to know.
Hubby and I had a broken tail light on our car (yeah, I broke it teaching a lamp post a lesson).
Went in to get a new bulb and the auto-parts guy ignored me and talked to hubby. When hubby told him I was the customer and I proceeded to tell him what I needed he responded to hubby.
I then asked him for the plastic lense to go over the light and he said, "Well, little lady, that you have to get from your dealer".
We've never been back.

10. Good for you. I'd do the same |
|
I used sexism to decide who to by my last car from. I went around to the dealers on my own and test drove vehicles that I was interested in. After I'd narrowed the decision down to about two or three, I sent my husband to the same places to drive the vehicles also. Anyone who treated him differently than me were immediately crossed off my list.

9. Local KFC hasn't gotten my business since about 1997 |
|
I was doing summer baseball duty with my boys and their cousins of the same age. Between games we had just minutes to get to the next so I ran through KFC to get lunch. I bought a huge bucket and all the fixins and they refused to give me plates, plasticware and napkins. If we ate there, we could have them. Fortunately there was a small grocery between them and the next game. I was able to get what I needed and race to the next game in time. Everytime I saw a commercial for KFC that summer inviting me to pickup a picnic pack I felt like calling to bitch out the local place.
I've never gone back and I doubt I will. A business that conducts itself in such a manner doesn't deserve to survive.

11. Will never eat at Jonathan's Grille again. |

They blasted *'s war speech so loud the windows reverberated and people were sitting with their hands over their ears. I asked them twice to please turn down the volume and they refused. I had gone there to have dinner out and try to forget what was about to happen and they totally ruined my dinner (which was nasty salty soup) and my ears rang for hours.

12. Q: When does $25 of Christmas cards cost $80....? |
|
A: When you buy 'em using your C*STCO credit card...!
Quick version...
Ordered photo reprint Christmas cards, got them in December ($25).
No bill for December shows up, but one comes in January, with the original purchase and a LATE FEE ($25 + $25).
Mail the January bill in February... but it doesn't POST over there until AFTER the payment deadline.
Soooo... the February bill arrives with the original purchase, the FIRST late fee, and ANOTHER late fee, and interest ($25 + $25 + $25 + $5).
Pay off the February bill (mailed it REAL EARLY, just in case) IN FULL, less the original $50 from the January bill.
Chop up the C*STCO credit card, never set foot in there again, and let the membership lapse when it expires...

13. the Subway sub shop one street over from me. |
|
Edited on Fri Dec-31-04 12:58 PM by jonnyblitz
I used to go there all the time to get this low carb wrap they make and one day one of the girls in the sub "assembly" line was inquiring about one of my tattoos and the girl next in line got annoyed trying to make my wrap (waiting for me to tell her what I wanted on it)because I was answering the other girls tat question, she blurts out "CAN WE FOCUS ON THE WRAP HERE PLEASE!?" ( i have a feeling she was a freeper who didn't like my button with the picture of bush with the slash through it). I can understand her being annoyed with me because I was holding up her progress but it WAS her fellow co-worker who was asking me the questions and it would have been rude not to respond. I went back ONCE and casually bitched about this woman to the manager while HE was making my sub and that is the last time I ever went there.
on edit: not sure if this is a silly reason or not tho...

I have been to 4, in different states, and they all smell the same. I think it is the ink they use on posters or something.
Also, I have never gone back to Panda Express after my friend got an entree there with a used band-aid in it. We now call it "Band-Aid Express"

17. Blockbuster has gone through a lot in the past couple of years. |
|
there have been several lawsuits and a lot of bad press
on year, they "forgave" all of the late fees for some PR
and I'm not sure, but with their new Video Pass program, one of their slogans is "The End of Late Fees" or something like that
I don't work for them, or even own stock, so forgive me for defending them. I definitely don't think I know everything about it, so feel free to rip Blockbuster apart.

Yellow Freight (a fully Union trucking company) last November. He doesn't patronize any place that's hard to deliver to, and boycotts anyplace with a 'No Trucks' sign. He says, "if I can't stop there in my truck, I'm not stopping there in my car"
He's hardcore about it too. Dedicate 45 years of your life to driving a truck and I guess you get that way.
