Fireworks glittering across the Mannheim sky |

Sitting in the dark enjoying the show. It'll go on for a few more hours.
Had plans for Paris, to float down the Seine 'til dawn and get toasted. Hubby's work schedule got changed last minute, so I'm enjoying the view from my big glass doors.
It's nice.

1. You must be seeing some stuff from Heidelberg and surrounding.. |

areas. I lived there while in the military, New Years Eve was so full of the surrounding towns all shooting of the works. It was fun!

2. Far away and local, yes |

It's really nice. I'm up on the 4th floor (3rd floor here, of course) and maybe 300 feet from a group of locals delivering a pretty good show themselves.

I had spent the earlier part of the evening imbibing in downtown Heidelberg on the Hauptstrasse. It was a beautiful night. When twelve came, a friend of mine and myself stood on a bridge over a section of rail tracks in Schwetzingen. It was absolutely an ecstatic experience. All of the towns were firing off. It was 360 degrees of fireworks.
Maybe next year you and your husband can do the Seine trip in Paris. I heard they used have quite a show!
