Help me make it to 10,000 posts, ask me anything!
I can't believe I'm only 40 or so posts away from the big 1-0-0-0-0!
I've been here since March of '03, and I can't tell you how much this site and you guys have helped me. Sure, we've had our problems and differences, but what family hasn't, lol! And either I'm a really fast poster or I really do need to get a life!

So don't be shy, fire away! Ask me anything, and I do mean ANYTHING!

1. Where in the name of god did you find the time to post 10,000?

3. Well, see, I've been on here
nearly two years, so I guess it all adds up after awhile! Although I will admit when I see people with 20 or 30,000 posts, I can't imagine having that kind of time.

6. Well, they put my uncle on some
kind of medicine to improve the chances of being able to use his own stem cells for the transplant since they couldn't find a match, and apparently it worked. He's scheduled to begin the transplant process next week. It should have been sooner, but the goddamn insurance fucks were causing some problems, wondering if it was "medically necessary" (never mind that he'd die without it).

The cells aren't as good a quality as they'd like, so they're being cautious about his prognosis at this point. We really hope it works, because it's his last chance. My aunt is hanging in there. :hi:

11. LOL!
I've been hearing that joke for thirty years now! No, believe it or not, it doesn't hurt, it's a nice little town. It was named after Edward Paine, its first settler, who started the town in 1801. Hey, I gotta show off my history degree somehow, since I don't have a teaching certificate!

5. TV Question
Did you watch the last episode of Third Watch? I have been looking for someone who watched it so they can tell me what happened at the end.

7. No, I didn't,
I usually try to watch it but haven't been able to get to it this season. Is it the last episode ever, are they ending the series?

12. No I don't think it's over...
I just caught the very end of the season finale (I think) where the female paramedic was standing outside...and Enya music playing...just wondering what her problem was.

13. No, unfortunately I don't,
since I was young and dumb while I was in college years ago. My parents are both teachers, so I guess I was rebelling against that. I sure wish I'd gotten a teaching certificate, though. There are programs around here for people with bachelor's degrees to get certified, but most of them require day-time classes or no outside work. I'd still like to find a way to do it, though.

9. Question as requested
Congrats on nearly reaching 10000. I am only on 7. Here's my question, since you asked: Do you know of any sites geared more towards practical discussions about how to convince more Americans to vote Democratic? This one is too heavy on the Bush-bashing. I've found the New Democratic Network site so far. Is there any other site you can recommend?

14. Hi, and welcome to DU!
We're really not that bad, once you get to know us! I'm afraid I don't know a site like that, although it would be a good site to post on. Why don't you try doing a google search, that would probably yield at least a few sites?

15. Actually, yes I have, believe it or not.
I was in college and living off-campus with my then-boyfriend in an old Victorian-style house that was around 150 years old. It had a huge, winding staircase, and there were a few times when I swear I saw a 19th-century-looking woman gliding down it. Honest to God!

17. I firmly believe that the
experiences you describe are true and real, and I've always believed that there's far too much evidence of ghosts and paranormal phenomena to dismiss them.

My son is now 13 years old. When he was five years old, we took him with us to visit family friends who lived in a 200-year-old house that was reputed to have been a part of the Underground Railroad (it was in Cincinnati, near the Ohio River). We were getting ready to leave, and sent him upstairs to get his shoes. He came back down and asked us "who's the other person?" We told him there was no other person up there and to go get his shoes. He came back down again and asked who the other person was, and he seemed scared and uneasy. My mom finally went up with him and got his shoes. He later told us that the "other person" was an older lady with a long skirt and "covered hair", who was smiling at him. Later that night, after we left, our friends reported that they heard strange noises in the house and they heard banging noises from the basement.

27. No, I haven't. I had a bisexual roommate
in college twenty years ago. I got drunk our last night before the summer break and told her I wanted to know what it was like to be with a woman. She couldn't believe I was serious and didn't do anything because she thought I didn't know what I was asking and that I'd regret it, being the total heterosexual that I am.

How do you know when you've reached 10,000 posts? I just made it past 1000 a few days ago and I wouldn't have a clue where to check to see how many posts I actually have now.
