I don't know about you guys but SO FAR 2005 SUCKS!!! |
|
Jesus Christ.
This REALLY is a new low for me.
Not only am I staying home ALONE and just chilling and feeling really bad about it...
But, at 11:35 my pager goes off (I am on call this weekend)and I spend the final minutes (and then some) on a conference call trying to figure out why a bunch of rednecks in Albany, Georgia were seeing pixilization on their satellite TV service.
I hope it screwed up whatever they were watching on FOX. Damn rednecks ruined my FREAKING NEW YEAR!
Meet the New Year same as the Old Year...

You've already figured out what it will take most of us much of 2005 to realize.
But I hope not. Sorry you're bummin'. Hope the whole pixellation thing was just an "anomaly" and this year ends up on the awesome side.
Cheers, peace, and Happy New Year!!!

4. Maybe you should consider a few things |
|
You appear to have a job and an income. Many don't.
You presumably are rather healthy. Many aren't.
You are alive. Over 100,000 in Asia aren't.
Count your blessings, not your little irritants.

I'm spending my New Year trying to figure out why progressives haven't yet come up with a common questions and answers on the issues, similar to James Carville's 1996 book "We're Right, They're Wrong." But hopefully an electronic resource like a downloadable HTML Help file. Similar to what you get when clicking F1 in Microsoft Word ... well enough of this, I know this isn't the place.
So after many web searches and posting on smaller message boards, I come here and register today (January 1, 2005). It says I can't post a new topic until I've replied to a few posts. Sheesh.
Also, can't even reply (or post) to any of the DU Groups without donating. I don't particularly mind that, but would be nice to have a freebie period for trying things out first.
Well, anyway I pick on this thread for practice. I guess a DU Lounge message is as good of a place for a junk message like this. Would be nice if there was a "Practice" forum.
What, No Search feature? That would have helped to find perhaps something similar - quick information finders on the issues, like what to say when a rightie says, for example, that tax cuts work -- Reagan's income tax cuts resulted in a doubling of income tax revenues.
I see there is an unavailable Demopedia.
Hope the New Year gets better, givemebackmycountry.

AND have the flu with enteritis and some other nice complications and can't lay down in bed because dear mother mine rattles at the door and shouts like a fury... So I'm sitting in front of the computer trying not to fall off the chair answering the same deranged questions time and again...
Oh yes it sucks.
On edit: Anybody has a nice baby animal pic to cheer me up a little?

And I see you know what I'm going through.... mine is aggressive on top of everything - tries to hit me and screams... It is absolutely impossible to have even one moment of privacy. My hands are shaking around noon and when the evening comes around I have to be very very careful. I get some really bad murderous ideas by then.
It is as if everything she ever knew rattles around her brain totally unconnected and you never know what piece may fall out... one moment she doesn't know anymore that it is New Years and NOT May or WHAT Australia is not to speak of where it is and the next moment she says something which sounds totally connected. And it's really fun to hunt all day for a white handbag that has landed in the garbage bin ten years ago. Screams: "Now WILL you get over here damnit and help me search for that bag? Of course I have the white bag with me. You're hiding it from me on purpose..." Yesterday she stole my man's keychain and hid it real good. And she speaks and asks questions without pause. And wants answers.
Grow up horse, I need to gallop away.

16. OMG she sounds just like grace!!!! |

The woman drives everyone insaine. and she is violent at times too! not with me but with my dad. she tried to bite him once. she is needy and wants attention constantly. has 4 daughters and son. only her son and one daughter still talk to her. but they never go to see her.
she is kind of mean. If she was my mother i would get her too a doctor who would medicate her. paxil, zoloft something. but she will not go to another doctor.
and the doctor she sees thinks she is just dandy! meantime my dad is going loony.
perhaps you can ask her doctor about something for the dementia - i think its called aracept. and a mild relaxer.
you know she saves things forever. i gave her a beautiful sweater for christmas. she never wore it. but will wear 100 year old cloths. this year i gave her a tea pot. she wasnt happy. but i was. lol
um, she has a white purse too. tee hee. i think its as old as she is. she will not throw it out. she throws nothing out.
i went flying accross the kitchen floor the other day cause she had an old rug by the sink that had no backing on it. she still didnt want to throw the shit out.

17. Right now she laid down on the couch. I: relieved. She: Come on over |
|
here and straighten out my pants legs so they won't crumple. I: looking wildly around for a weapon... Of course right before she lay down she asked me to make some tea for her; when I came with cup in hand she never wanted any tea... Let her sleep, God, because I need to lay down. Cold sweat standing on my forehead.
Oh but yours sounds like a beauty, too... And yes, in the future she will get some medication. As soon as her housekeeper is back from vacation I'm gong to take care of that. It would all be more bearable if she had been a sweet mum when we were children - old people happen to go crazy, it's not their fault and we will, too. But she never WAS nice and the more despondent she becomes the more I hate her *sigh*

18. I have a feeling this lady was never nice |
|
either. cause my dad was always a grouch but he is a nice guy. and he still is a nice guy. nothing like this woman he met after my mom died. and he caters to her. he should have treated my mother so good. lol! i watch i learn. she actually had the nerve to ask me "how come your not married? "jeez, this is my third husband!" whats wrong with you?
I didn't know what to say. i was speechless. lol. that was when we first met. well happy new year. and yeah, i am still single. i will have to wait till i am 65 and can join the senior sentor and hook up with a widow.

Saw dynamite fireworks, in stereo (they had it choreographed so there were two identical sets going off at the same time, one to the left, one to the right). Then I dropped the kid off and had to wait for almost an hour for a bus. And while the people I observed were amusing, it was COLD. On the whole, though, it looks like Smirk is going down in flames, so a good start to the year.
