Will somebody please tell me why they don't like Star Trek Insurrection? |
|
I just watched this flick again and I uttery love it.
Maybe I just need a reminder.
It's got soul and it's got intellectual intrigue and the plot is reasonably good too and I used the word "and" too many times in this sentence.
I dunno why, but it works.
They even jab at the oil industry, which was the icing on the cake. (and the bit about not using technology despite knowing about it reeeeally appeals to me for some reason.)

Yeah, it was the Picard love interest story. But still, I thought it was sweet.
Better than Picard all out for petty revenge in the previous flick and acting as bad as Khan in order to win his little battle... (Amazing how First Contact was an utter reversal of The Wrath of Khan!)

Now I dig Kirk, but Trek has outgrown him (though it's painful to watch "Generations" because without Kirk in a scene the scene sucks...) Just as Trek has now outgrown Picard thanks to the (politely put) lacklustre "Nemesis". As Sisko and Janeway are cardboard cutouts of Picard, they're outgrown too.

7. Say what you will about Janeway |

but Sisko was the bomb, and was nothing like Picards. "You hit me! Picard would never hit me." ( Q to Sisko)

big edit: for some reason, I read your question to be about Nemesis, and wrote a post about what a bad movie that was - sorry, time for bed.

They let patric stewart CHANGE the movie, and now its just a silly movie with a even sillier cgi worm pet i hate that cgi pet gawd..
The original script was based on the book apocalypse now was based on, and it would have had picard chase down a old admiral friend from the academy that had gone nuts.. in the end picard would have been forced to kill data only to discover that it was for nothing..
AND THEY CHANGED IT TO SOME CRAP MOVIE that could have been a 2 part episode
even nemesis is better

9. The Riker/Joystick scene |
|
It looked cheap and made no sense at all (if Riker is such a good pilot, then why doesn't he control the ship?; Why isn't there a Joystick for the helmsman, if the control is superior?)
