1. They still make those?
My uncle bought a Buick Roadmaster years ago and that was like one of the only ones still around.

2. I saw an ad for a new Chevy that billed itself as an "extended Sedan"
"With the cargo capacity of an SUV and the handling of a car."

Sounds like a station wagon to me.

3. Coupla years ago, the industry decided that...
"station wagon" would kill sales. Stodgy, stuffy, and other nasty associations were made with the term in consumer research.

So, they started making station wagons that are not station wagons, like that big Chrysler thing.

4. Looks like a hatchback to me

Malibu Maxx LT 5-door extended sedan in Galaxy Silver Metallic.

Not a bad looking car, either.

5. Yeah, but what the hell does "station wagon" mean, anyway?

9. The original "station" wagons
(think woodies) were called that because they could haul passengers AND baggage from the railroad station to wherever.
Honest.

14. BTW, Dodge is marketing these as
The next big thing in police cruisers starting this year. They're banking on Hemi power to woo over police departments across the country.

7. Ultimate COOL
I love these.

I am not a pick up truck type.
No way for an SUV.

But I need a place to haul groceries, sports equip, saxophones, dog, shrubs, you name it.

My vehicle - not my price.

13. See also "shooting brakes".

Rolls Royce Shooting Brake

"Picnics the way they used to be.
And should be!
After a leisurely drive in an early shooting brake to an idyllic secluded location, browse a sumptuous spread with friends and family...
the classical picnic outing!"

15. Sorry I went off on this rant.
I just got done reading George Carlin's New book When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops?. His rants on euphamisms must have rubbed off on me.
