"Ridding the room of argument" |
|
I'm watching this program on U2. Bono said that as most people get older, they tend to 'Rid the room of argument.' They leave behind those that disagree with them, and are left with a small group of friends and family who are like minded.
He went on to say that this is a shame, because friction makes us sharper. It clarifies our thinking. I had not thought of it in those terms. Interesting.
Here's to a year of making each other sharper.

1. I'm Convinced One of the Worst Things About Getting 'Old' |

is becoming set in one's ways. That, to me, is one of the defining characteristics of mental aging: the craving for consistency. Perhaps by seeking out stimulation and mentally-challenging tasks, we can forestall the effects of aging on our personalities and thinking processes.

With some people, you can just look at them or their homes, and pinpoint the year when they stopped changing.
