Poll question: Do you still kiss your parents? |
|
A comment Paddy just made prompted me to ask this. Paddy said that one of the things he thinks is so cool about my family is that we all still kiss each other when we get together, and he's right-- I still kiss my folks and siblings, and my folks--- even my dad-- still kiss all of us.
How is your family on kissy/huggy issues?
:)

4. I went through a phase at about 13-15... |
|
For some bizarre reason, I let my friends convince me that it was 'feminine' to still kiss my dad, so I tried not to. I eventually figured out that my friends were idiots, and went back to doing it. :)

I don't remember ever kissing my father. He's not very affectionate. Actually, I don't really remember kissing any of my male relatives.

Mom's also affectionate, but not as outgoing and jovial as my dad.

Your words comfort me.
But don't dread the day, instead let your dad know how much you love him while he is still with you.

Brothers, sisters, sisters and brothers-in-law, Mom, Dad, Stepmother. Someone would think you were mighty pissed off if you couldn't bother to swing by and greet them with a kiss on the cheek and a hug. This is because we all live apart so when we do see each other it's been a while.

I'm not the kissing type. I don't even hug my dad. I think the last time I did that I was around 14 and it just didn't feel right. We have a good relationship with each other but we're not very close. We're more friends than father/son.

I was always glad to be from a family that wasn't afraid to show affection. That wasn't hindered by idiotic notions regarding men displaying affection.

So was my mom. My son-in-law wasn't, but boy he is now. It was either that, or feel terribly left out.
We are also back-patters, hair-touslers, chin-chuckers, cheek-pinchers (lightly),arm-grippers, butt-slappers, and just generally enjoy physical contact.
Except Jack. With me. Until this Christmas. He's 2 1/2. For some reason I was persona non grata at Thanksgiving. "Go WAY, Baba!"
Somethime during the Christmas visit I began to remember things my grandfather did. "Jack? Is that some sugar I see there?" "Where, Baba?" (wide eyed) "Right there (base of his neck). Gimme some sugar. <Mm-mmm snort snuffle>" Jack howls with glee. This TICKLES! "Mommy! I got sugar! WATCH!" Ol' Baba goes after his sugar again. Jack cannot control himself. He is about to wet his diaper, in fact I think he does. Thanks grandpa. :-)

We've always hugged and kissed. We've always been demonstrative like that. :-)
