1. I feel the same way after reading "what's the matter with kansas" |

it's actually pretty saddening, but when a large group of people will vote their jobs and their children overseas just to symbollicaly repudiate two guys making out, I feel like I owe them nothing.

This election has definitely changed me. Every "bad news" story I hear is now filtered through a "Did they probably vote for Bush?" screen. If the answer is yes, I just can't feel any sympathy for them - no matter how hard luck the story.
Case in point - on the "frugality" bb I read (long story - I'm not really frugal but I'm am trying to be less of a spendthrift.) Anyway, someone posted this story about a woman dying of cancer and her two little girls getting nothing for Christmas and I was about to e-mail the poster privately to find out more information to see if I could help when she started posting more details. Like, that they were deep in the heart of a red state, devout members of a small church in a small town. That stopped me cold - I thought, "They probably voted for Bush - let some Republican help them."
In a way it's liberating - I only have to "care" about half the country now.
