The Red Neck Christmas Tree
Yes I know Christmas is all and done and we're in the new year.... but I got back from winter vacation at my parent's house... and have been unable to post in DU to explain this horror.....

I hate Themed Trees... Allways have always will. I prefer trees where ornaments and the lights are put on randomly... I hate being told said light must go there or said bulb must go there.. it takes the fun out of decorating... not to mention.... I find them tacky and boring... anywhoo

I call my Mom the day before I arrive home.. and she tells me my Dad and Brother (Both Southern Heritage Rednecks.. and yes they proclaim themselve such) got Tree decorating duties this year... and they decided to make it a themed tree. I groan becuase I hate themed trees. Then she told me I would groan louder when I saw it.

My Mom MADE them buy her another tree to decorate after she saw it. So I get home... I walk in to the living room... and BOOM... oh my god.... that is hideous... I didn't say that out loud.. but I was thinking it...

Instead of blubs... empty beer cans. Instead of lights... shot gun shells with lights in them. Duck Calls, Duct tape, Orange Hats, Ammo all were the ornaments. Fishing Tackle instead of popcorn string.... and on top.. not a star... but a deer skull with an arrow through the antlers. I did my best to avoid my opinion on the tree.. so not to make hte Christmas less festiv.... but egads... if I hated themed trees before... I hate them even more now.

So with that out of the way.. there's my late late Christmas post.... now back to the present :)

4. I hate to ask but
Do you have pictures?

Also was this a "statement" or did they actually think it was a nice looking tree?

5. Did you take a picture?
I wanna SEE this thing. It sounds horrible beyond description, but at the same time something you can't resist gawking at, like a bad car wreck.

8. Sorry no pic...
I wish I had thought of that... I will say this.. I have specific beef with the deer skull. You see I slept on the couch which is directly in front of the tree... so when I woke up with my head proped up on the pillows.... that deer skull was the first thing I saw........ not a pretty thing to wake up to.

14. Dang! That's worse than the White House tree in 1998
Not to offend Clinton fans, but that tree was absolutely ugly--and I had an ornament on it, too. They literally covered every single square inch of tree with gold balls, gold ribbon, 7" tall snowmen artists from each state and territory made, small painted sleds from all the decorative artists guilds in the country, and hat and mitten sets from each knitting guild in the country. You couldn't even see any green anywhere, honestly. The only way you even could see my hat and mitten set was because it was small and light enough to get on the end of a branch (and you can just see the edge of it in the official picture from that year).

This year's artists got to meet Pickles, but we didn't, since Hilary was up at the Hill trying to talk everyone into not impeaching her husband that day . . . *Sigh* Sucky time in history . . .

15. Sounds funny
Then again, I'm a southern redneck.

Although, as I'm also a gun control vegetarian hippie, I'd have had mixed feelings. As I often do in life.
