Well, I did it again.
I make some tea. It is done and I move the kettle to a different spot on the stove so it will stop whistling.

Timer goes off on the oven - pizza isn't done yet - I check it and then put it on for a couple more minutes. I throw the oven mitt down.

Fifteen seconds later - what is that smell? Oven mitt burning!

It was already partly burnt. Now it is trash.

I swear this kind of stuff didn't happen until after I had kids. They say you actually gain intelligence (some stupid study) but I have become so much more scatter-brained.

1. If it makes you feel better -
I've singed a couple of potholders and melted a Tupperware cake container also.

2. I think it is the tea drinking during the winter and it takes so long for
the stove top to cool off. I just never even think about it.

I bet the burnt Tupperware smelled nice.

3. I made a frozen Lasagna the other day
I had put the Lasagna in right away since it didn't require pre-heating. It's the type where you leave on the plastic covering the container.
I forgot that the upper element on my electric oven goes on, on a cold start.
After about ten minutes I'm thinking something smells a bit weird. I check the oven and find that the plastic cover had melted into the Lasagna.
I hate making anything for myself and this is why. I should have just used the microwave.

I left an oven mitt on top of the stove yesterday. I never do that. What's happening to me? I'm generally so paranoid about the oven that I even turn the breaker switch off when I'm not using it.

I think this fear of the oven started one time when I was staying with my Grandma and she was making me eggs and then left to visit with the neighbor. I look to the kitchen and there were flames shooting up out of the frying pan. GAH!
