You're recent weight lost is a real inspiration to me. I've got to lose a few pounds, tone up and gain some energy somehow; I'm tired all the time! Any tips?

71. This is what I do -

I've had a gym membership for 10 months and learned a lot there, especially about weight training. However, when the membership expires in two months, I'm not renewing. I've discovered effective ways to exercise at home, and it doesn't take as big a chunk of time out of my day (or as big a chunk out of my wallet for membership and child care fees).

I do some form of exercise every day. I do cardio at least six days a week (I'm currently using the Leslie Sansone Walk Away The Pounds videos, which combine cardio with resistance training and are especially good for days you don't have much time to get in a workout).

I also do weight training at least three days a week. I have a bench and a set of free weight dumbbells from 2 lbs up to 15 pounds. I rely on the cardio videos for most of my lower body resistance, but I also do squats and lunges. For upper body, I use the dumbbells for exercises to strengthen biceps, triceps, shoulders, back and chest.

The combination of cardio and weight training is a super metabolism booster. Weight training is also effective at helping to build up bone density. I prefer to do my exercise in the morning, because it revs up my energy for the whole day. I haven't done my workout yet today, and I can really tell the difference. I feel lazier. In fact, I'd be doing myself a favor if I got up and did it now. It's almost 4:00!
