7. .....yeah! Damn it, I did like the three bears, I goofed.
Because I do flip to another channel during those sickouts. But that would be kind of like muting, right?

3. But I rarely
watch TV at all and ocasionally I listen to the commercials and then send email to the company pointing out the obvious misleading statements in them, or just generally complain.

4. no but you know my dad does that
I think that requires paying too much attention to the TV but heck he's retired, he has the time. I'm often doing something and more listening than looking, so I listen for when the commercials are over and the program continuing.

5. I mute
I wouldn't bother if the volume on commercials were slightly lower. But the volume on the commercials is generally louder than the shows themselves - it's jarring.

(Dear commercial making people - are you taking notes on this? Turn your volume lower, be less obnoxious and we might leave the sound on!)

6. How about turn the damn volume down?
Of course its against the law to advertise at higher volume but I guess Mike Powell is busy looking at boob tapes over and over.

9. I used to mute
Then I just got rid of cable and now watch DVDs and tapes.

The strange thing is now when I am somewhere with a TV on, it is so much more surreal and fake looking. It's easier to spot the Fnords... ;)

16. I fast forward through them.
I start my viewing of things when atleast 30 minutes have already been recorded. Then, I fast forward through the commercials and save myself from the mind clutter.

I love dish network.

I hear ya'! DVR has been completely awesome during this Christmas season because I don't have to sit through all those rediculous holiday commercials!

All the good stuff, none of the filler.

18. I don't mute them, but I often turn down the volume.
The commercials are always SO MUCH LOUDER than the actual program.

24. Yes
Mostly when they show the same frickin' annoying commercials every ten minutes. The ESPN Sunday night football commercial is really starting to piss me off. They not only show it at every break, but they show it back-to-back at every break. Arghhhh!

28. The commercials during football games spend more than the simple
game. A game is 60 minutes with 30 minute break at half time. Most football games last over three hours.

26. On certain channels that up the volume on the commercials
I do. The local UPN channel's commercials are always very loud in comparison to the volume of their shows.

32. Only the annoying ones.
Like those fucking annoying ads for Sandals Resorts that Charter Cable in Stevens Point airs every fucking attosecond!

Otherwises, as one who plays in the world's largest rivia contest for a top ten team, many times I not only watch them, but sometimes take notes on them.

34. I turn the channel
I usually end up watching two programs at once. I almost always zap to another channel when the commercials come on. If I really want to pay attention to anything, I TIVO it. Then when I watch the TIVO, I zap thru the commercials.

So I don't turn them down, I turn them off and speed them up.
Not sure how you want to count that on this poll.
