Right now my favorite is Cassandra Wilson's cover of "The Wind Cries Mary."
Yours?

Do Right Woman, Do Right Man-Flying Burrito Bros: A country version of the Aretha tune that is just as good if not better than the original.
I Know It's Over-Jeff Buckley cover of a Smiths song
I Am The Walrus-Oasis cover of a Beatles tune (duh) Its been sped up and played live with really really loud distorted geetars. And they're drunk of their asses and high on coke to boot. Rock n roll goodness

originally by Neil Diamond in 1968, probably best known as a reggae-tinged cover by UB40 in the early 1990s. But UB40's version was based on Tony Tribe's 1969 version, which gets my vote as best cover, perhaps of all time--so good that UB40 basically covered the cover.

Tony Tribe never gets the credit he deserves for that one. Although UB40 would give credit where credit was due the public never recognized a lot of those great Trojan singles.

I love Tony Tribe's voice. Sounds like the song was written for him.

14. Ash's cover of the Buzzcocks' "Everybody's Happy Nowadays" |

from the Shaun of the Dead soundtrack. It's my current fave. I didn't think anyone could beat the Buzzcocks at their own game, but Ash did.
