2. I have to agree
In fact I said that to my wife (an African-American jazz lover) last week, and she strongly disagreed, but mainly, I think, because she can't stand hip-hop (me neither!). But I'm sure in the early years of jazz, it was met with the same disdain as hip-hop is now by middle class adults.

I normally like most music, but hip-hop still eludes me....

3. Actually

I am going to change my answer and disagree and say it is more like blues. Hip-hop is urban folk music just like blues was originally folk music of rural black people (and later went urban.)

4. Hip Hop Is The Scourge Of Urban America
I have an ongoing WAR with the kids in my neighborhood playing their Hip Hop in cars.

Every time one of them drives by or stops, they get a stern lecture from me about noise pollution.

Since I am a big old ugly cuss, it has worked very well.

In other words, they have decide it's best not mess with the crazy white guy.

As I say regularly - death to Hip Hop - a god-forsaken music!

8. Oh I Disagree
If only because jazz musicians have to know how to play instruments and be well-versed in music theory on some level. Hip hop's all time and texture.
