Having a lesson in poetry from an enchanting Ukrainian girl. She was talking about amazing eastern european poets and stuff.

In comes some piece of garbage saying "Oh you're talking about poetry? Do you like Jim Morrison? He has this poem called "my cock""

19. I had a similar experience

at a halloween party once. I can't remember what this girl and I were discussing but some would-be-mr.-sensitive showed up and started rambling some shit about majoring in "Herbal Studies" and some poorly constructed nonsense-shuck-and-jive about desert plants and the millenium(!?!?) I guess he figured that since I was wearing a toga and some wreath-thing wrapped around my head I could easily be bamboozled, and the girls I was with even more so. I let him go for about ten minutes so he was fully committed to that line of bullshit and then cut him off at the knees with a couple of quick questions on paleobiology (again I don't remember them specifically, but he was talking about some weird "migration" of the desert plants)

Watching him deflate and leave was worth listening to the tripe he had been spouting. In fact it was priceless! Remeber, be careful when screwing with the drunk guy in the Toga--as long as it's Halloween ;)

Oh and back to the main thread--the Doors blow.

Morrison was a fucking clown who took himself way to seriously however as a band they were fucking top notch. Every single musician in that band was top notch. They played exceptionally well together and made some damn good music. Most of the studio stuff after the first album (cept Morrison Hotel and LA Woman) I can take or leave however they were always a great live band. The Bright Midnight shows are testaments to that.

I could really care less about whether or not he was truly deep or not. Morrison's voice is one of the unique great rock voices of all time. Maybe it's YOU who's trying to be a little too deep.
