Always be nice to the Admin

So reviews are coming up, and my Crazy Office Mate wanted a project she could claim on her self-eval. Our Boss let her develop a presentation on benefits (Crazy Office Mate has nothing to do with Ben Admin and open enrollment is about nine months away). She's testing it out today on some of the executives, most of whom are very not happy with her. Being Crazy, Crazy Office Mate blew up this presentation all out of proportion (it was originally 24 hours long!) and insists on using technology she isn't familiar with (for instance, she doesn't know Power Point, so naturally the entire presentation is in PP). Crazy Office Mate was rude and abusive to our departmental administrative assistant when Admin tried to help her put together some of the presentation matierals, telling Admin that her PP advice was useless since Admin was nothing more than an administrative assistant and Crazy's sister, who actually helped with the Power Point (read: produced from scratch) was a student at ITT and therefor a Power Point expert.

So Crazy Office Mate's presentation was a disaster. Boss told her to take the rest of the day off. I haven't had a chance to talk to Boss and find out just how bad it went, but Admin was helping me with some paperwork and told me that CFO wanted Crazy Office Mate gone. I said, well, that's the kind of thing that happens when you're crazy and Admin told me that "Yeah, it's the kind of thing that happens when you're too proud to accept Power Point help,"

It turns out that each slide had a footer that said, "Stupid fucking presentation for Crazy's lousy job,". Admin was apparently trying to tell her that the footer was visible on the printed presentation.

It's the kind of story I wouldn't believe except that nobody could make it up. She is gone!

3. Adding note to add: You are right. Always be nice to the AAs

Be nice to all secretaries, maintenance people, delivery people, everybody. First, be nice to them because they are fellow human beings who deserve the same consideration and respect given to the CEO, and second, be nice because they actually run the place.

5. No she doesn't

Crazy's pulled a lot of weird shit, so she was on thin ice before this. I've posted about her a couple of times. The thing of it is she probably could have gotten away with such a simple mistake if she hadn't already rubbed a bunch of people the wrong way.

FWIW, I myself made a similar mistake with an Excel spreadsheet a few years ago. The footer wasn't anything nearly as bad (I think it had something on it about MS Money) but now I always check the printed copy and I don't let frustration lead me to write anything work-related I don't want others to see.

Tell Crazy I can probably get her on down at the terminal if she can get her CDL. Sanity isn't a requirement to be a truck driver.
