http://www.419eater.comI'm a register member. Read some of the baits. You will fall off your chair laughing. I don't do much baiting. I just like to warn potential victims. Or I send insulting letters to the scammers.

11. a friend of mine got hit by one of these scammers... |
|
his brain was on the fritz at the time, otherwise he'd have recognised it for what it was, and he only told me about it after the fact. my friend was trying to sell a ring and this scammer told him that he could only send him a cheque for twice the amount (six grand) and that he'd have to make change. why he fell for that i will NEVER know. he's usually a smart guy. anyway, this cheque was sent and deposited into his bank account, and the stupid bank changed the balance before they cleared the cheque, so he thought it was legit and sent the guy a return cheque for $3000 and the ring. by the time the bank woke up to the fake cheque and my friend woke up in the middle of the night like 'what the fuck was i on?', he was out 3 grand AND the ring worth another 3 grand. trust me, he's not proud of it. it definitely wasn't one of his more intelligent moments. as the police pointed out to him, it could have been a money laundering scam...anything, and he wasn't too bright about it.

12. That's terrible - and a good reminder of what these scammers do |
|
Whenever I start to feel sorry for them I think about people like your friend who got scammed. I do feel sorry for the people in the photos - I doubt they are the scammers, just some poor people who are probably coerced by the scammers into posing for photos.
These scammers are everywhere. When we sold our car using an online listing service we got dozens of scam notes pretending interest in buying the car, all with sad stories and complicated ideas for "closing the deal."

13. They even send the scams to churches and use a "Godly" angle |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 04:31 PM by notmyprez
I work in a church office, and we constantly get "nigerian scam" emails that are from a person that is supposedly "born again" and needs someone to do "Godly" things with the money.
When you think you've seen everything, something like this comes along!
