I'm making fettucini with scallop & shrimp cream sauce - ask me anything |
|

Though I won't be answering you for a while...
Perhaps not until after the heart attack.
There will be much garlic in the sauce, along with bacon, fresh scallops and shrimp. It will be poured over freshly made spinach fettucini. I'll serve a nice mesclun salad with avacado dressing, and I have a whole wheat roll left over from my teriyaki steak with mushroom & green bean sauce dinner last night. Only real butter, of course; none of that margarine crap.
Also made some chicken stock today, and will finish the soup tomorrow night. I'm waiting for the fat to congeal so I can pull it out of the stock, and have a nice clear tasty yum yum stock to work with.
I haven't cooked in weeks! Been too busy, and I feel great having been able to spend time in the kitchen again. I missed it!

2. what time is dinner, and what wine . . . |

should I bring? I thought a nice, simple chocolate raspberry torte for dessert? please let me know how big it should be.
you are, of course, using only freshly grated parmagiano reggiano and heavy cream?

I forgot to get the cheese, so I'm going cheeseless, and I'm so upset becuase I had a good chunk of it in my sight at the grocery store about an hour ago, but got distracted, and then forgot about it; though I might toss in some Old Amsterdam. It's odd, I know, but it's all I have, and I think that actually it would go well. And no heavy cream, half and half for me - though I might also instead use the creme fraiche. Heavy cream I find too rich in pasta sauces.
Dinner will be in 45 minutes. Bring enough torte for 6, just to be sure :-) even though it will be just the two of us.

10. creme fraiche is always acceptable, and dutch cheese will. . . |
|
work, too. fortunately, whatever remains of the 12-serving torte should keep nicely in the fridge (along with the left-over whipped cream, or creme anglais.

Certainly you were invited. Sorry you weren't able to make it. :-)
It was awfully tasty, too, if I say so myself, and can be allowed a little pat on the back.
Perhaps if you ever come to NYC, you can remind me, and we'll see what I can cook up (other than herring heads). :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
