Poll question: Best Album of ALL time!!!
I'm reading too many bad music polls that forget these important albums, which are the top 10 albums of all times.

I'd like a write-in please. I'll take Bob Marley's Legend.

17. Peeving alert
"Legend" is a post-mortem effort to make Bob's legacy more easily sold to the pop market in the USA. Nothing wrong with that but it really doesn't compare with Exodus, Burnin' or Bablyon by Bus or any other of the original releases for depth and bredth.

My nomination for best album of all time might be DK's "Plastic Surgery Disasters" ...today.

18. Babylon By Bus
Great, great album. Terrific performances and impassioned singing throughout. Good call on that one.

Edited on Tue Jul-15-03 04:49 PM by Kennethken
LLiT - no you can't choose Legend, because it's a "Best of"

We are certainly trying to forget these self-important albums;
but far too many people (and raido stations) are stuck in the 70s.

But I can't decide between Exodus and Kaya.

So if you make me decide, I'll go with U2's War! :)

9. In my world it isn't
I love Led Zeppelin!

But yeah, putting CODA on there probably was a little bit of a joke. It was all their stuff that didn't make it on the previous 8 albums and an opportunity for LZ to cash in after John Bonham's death!

19. one good thing from Coda
Depsite being leftovers, the version of "Since I've Been Loving You" on there is better than the original, and I think it was from a soundcheck! :D

"Bonzo's Montreux" is fun too. I can't remember much else.

My fave Zep album: "Houses Of The Holy", just slightly above IV, and then III. I think "Presence" is underrated, just because of "Tea For One".

No bad ones, though I don't have "The Song Remains The Same", but I have seen it at many a midnight showing. :-)

10. No good albums that weren't written by Led Zeppelin?
Stairway to Heaven really isn't that great a song, once you learn the story behind it.

I think the best album is Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel. Sgt Peppers is great, too. And Pet Sounds is high on my list because it was the album that inspired Sgt. Pepper's and brought the Beach Boys-Beatles rivalry to a new level.

12. Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby
I know it's the greatest album, because Terence said so himself when it was released.

I like all kinds of stuff, from bubblegum to jazz. There is even some of that classic rock that I like. I agree that it is overplayed.

I don't need to listen to Zeppelin because I can play it back perfectly in my head, I've heard it so much. I like hearing obscure stuff that I haven't heard in 10 or 15 years.

He put on a great show. Opened for Duran Duran.

Isn't he supposed to be in INXS now?

I loved "Hardline". "Sign Your Name" is a hauntingly beautiful song. I remember thinking how refreshing it was to hear such amazing soul in the middle of all that 80's new wave.

. . .Time i'm sure will bring
disappointments in so many things
it seems to be the way
when your gambling cards on love you play
i'd rather be in hell with you baby
than in cool heaven
it seems to be the way

Sign your name
across my heart
i want you to be my baby . . .

24. Proof that Lou has no integrity
The fact that he even produced it knowing that it would be released for sale shows how little concern he had for his fans/audience.

I realize he did it under pressure from the company to release something but still....

25. Yeah. I Bought It & Was Pissed
He got RCA to give him a contract that gave him the right to release some of his stuff on Red Seal, their classical division.

He got his way, but knew he had nothing. There was no "serious" music in him that would work for Red Seal. So, when RCA got mad that he wasn't fulfilling his whole contract, he said he was working on his Red Seal stuff and couldn't do any rock or pop right now.

Then, in about 12 hours, did a massive noise album and turned it in as an "art project".

I bought that album and was angry because it was a joke on the record company, but i didn't know about it until after the fact. And, i still spent my money that RCA got. So, the joke wasn't even on RCA.

I'd have to agree with you, and i like Lou.

Just kidding. Zepplin is fine in a pinch. Their CD's are just as good as Tiffany's to keep Mockingbirds off my fig tree. At least they ain't the Eagles!

Ehh, lighten up, I like 'em, I'm just teasing!

30. Led Zeppelin III
Actually, I really have no preference of any one of the first 6 Zeppelin albums over the others, but it seems that the third album is often overlooked in the shadow of II and especially IV/Zoso/Stairway/ whatever the fuck it's called.

Zep III is the only one that I haven't yet replaced the vinyl with CD. Can't give up that album cover
