1. Did you ever see the film version from 1982?
I'm not a big Pink Floyd fan, but I really liked that movie!

13. What the hell is the deal with that movie?
Kid's dad gets killed, grows up with mom, marries, divorces, starts fascist movement, has success, freaks out, is arrested and tried for "showing feelings of an almost human nature"? Sorry but I'm really not getting the arc of the story

23. Yes, yes, yes!
I agree - it's a great album! It's funny but I never had a true appreciation for Pink Floyd until recently!
I used to prefer Emerson, Lake and Palmer (still like them), but...
guess I'm mellowing nicely-or something.....

24. Been into Pink Floyd for a while now..
Actually, the person who introduced me to Pink Floyd was also a big ELP fan. I have Tarkus but have not listened to it in ages. Think I need to get it out and have a listen.

32. You know "The Thin Ice" was added later, right?
I will never, ever figure this out: The organizers of The Wall: Live in Berlin planned for every eventuality. They built the most massive stage set ever erected in Germany. They contracted with some of the top talent of our time. They even hired the Soviet Army's Western Group of Forces field band to play "Bring the Boys Back Home."

And then they rented one generator to run the whole fucking thing.

Anyway, the show started. The Scorpions played. The crowd started screaming. (What they were screaming was "Louder!" Because they didn't play very loud, and lots of people didn't like that.) Out walks Ute Lemper to sing "The Thin Ice"...and the generator quit. By the time they got it running again, it was time for the next song.

Which was fine by me; if there was one song on the whole album I could do without, it's that one.

If I could have restaged that show, here's what I would have done: at the very beginning, kill all of the lights except one followspot focused on Roger Waters, who would sing "When The Tigers Broke Free" accompanied by a pianist or a classical guitarist. (The Scorpions would be taking the stage as this is happening.) And the second Waters finished singing "and that's how the high command took my daddy from me," throw all the dimmers to high and go straight into "In the Flesh."

OK the new James Guthrie mix isn't as good as the original Alan Parsons Quadraphonic mix

Which version of The Wall are you listening to? The best one is the Mobile Fidelity Sound Logic CD "Original Master Recording"
