Volunteering overseas
Anyone here ever get involved with non-profit organizations that arrange for paid volunteer programs abroad?

The kinds of organizations I mean are generally cross-cultural type groups that do good (really) and bring people together, etc. (Very warm and fuzzy, but in a positive way, not a pejorative way.)

In any case, if any experience out there, please let me know.

Also, does anyone know how to go about volunteering, if at all possible, with groups like Save the Children, CARE, etc. in connection with the tsunami relief programs?

1. I don't know, but I'd
like to know the answers myself. Maybe someone will come along who can give us some information.

3. I'm gonna join the Jesuit Volunteer Corp
it's the largest Catholic service group in the world. They pay for all travel, though they ask that you fundraise $2,500. You do get a small stipend to survive. Internationally, they go to various Central and South American countries, Tanzania, South Africa, Napal, Micronesia, and the Marshall Islands. International volunteers serve for 2 years, domestic volunteers serve for 1 year.
