and there was lightning and thunder. Once again, I'm waiting for the electricity to go out. It's supposed to rain all week, and over the weekend. This is crazy !!!

2. Count your blessings. Here, in the North Country, we have snow |
|
It was raining earlier, but I just looked outside, and it's changed to snow. Yesterday we had freezing rain and I couldn't leave the house. The steps were covered with ice and my poor dogs couldn't even navigate them. It's supposed to be like this all week. I hate winter! *sigh*:-(
But I really feel for you if your electricity goes out. That often happens here, as well, so I know what it's like. I've often thought that we can send a man to the moon, but still can't make it safe to drive in winter or keep the lights on!

3. I've got to go to work in about a half hour |

and the rain is pouring down. Hope I can see well enough to drive. But it isn't snow, which is what we're used to this time of year in northwest Arkansas.

4. And so long as it comes down as rain |
|
not as freezing rain, which we're scheduled for starting later on today here in the Kansas City area.

6. I don't know what freezing rain is but it sounds bad. |
|
I could google it but a first hand account might be more fun.

rain that comes down at exactly the freezing point. It's not yet ice, but it becomes ice on every surface it touches. Even a tenth of an inch makes roads unbelievably treacherous. Half an inch or more breaks power lines and tree branches.
We had an ice storm here on January 31, 2001 that put about an inch of ice on everything. Some people were without power for a week. Wonderful old trees collapsed completely under the weight of the ice.
It's beautiful to look at, but not much fun and shuts down a city faster than almost anything else.

But no rain and no wind. Our utilities are underground so they almost never go out.

I thought it had stopped last night, but nooooooo. Never assume it's done raining. Went to the grocery store and got soaked to the skin putting them in the trunk. It was only a light rain on the way in, then BLAM!
I thought it was kinda fun, though. I think I might just go out in the rain more often. :)
