I watched this damn movie last night and didn't even think that it was that good or particularly well done. It was creepy. VERY creepy, kind of like a much less skillfully done "Carnival of Souls" (the original).
I awakened twice last night with nightmares and have been creeped out all day. Besides a general feeling of dread, I don't want to walk past mirrors, open closed doors, or walk around any corners. This morning's shower was even cause for alarm. WTF???
For the record, I am not usually effected this way by horror movies.
Just in case anyone doesn't know, "JU ON" is the original Japanese movie that Sara Michelle Geller's movie "The Grudge" was based on. I haven't seen that, was it good?

1. Sounds like it's better than you give it credit for |

Any horror flick that has the effect that it did on you would be considered a great success by the makers of the film.

It was very effective. That was part of my point, it didn't seem all that scary, and it was pretty repetitive...but it sure as hell got under my skin for some reason.

I am hoping the japanese version of the "The Ring" (Ringu) is available with subtitles out there somewhere. Ju-on was one of the spookiest movies I have seen in a long time. what you said about it not "being that good or particulary well done" I didn't even notice.
