My dad died over the holidays |
|
He was a staunch Democrat. He first gave to Wes Clark's campaign, then to Kerry.
I used to send him links to posts here and other places, he loved the information and comments.
He was in and out of it the last couple days of his life.
At one point he was ranting about the election.
I spent election day calling him on the phone, at first we were excited then we consoled each other.
I will miss him for the rest of my life. Even though we knew he had cancer, we thought he had 5-10 years ahead of him, long enough to outlast this evil administration.
At least he saw the Red Sox win the World Series. :)
Here is to you Dad!

That's a real shame. It's good that you have fine memories of your time with him, though. That's a good way to salve the hurt.
Take care. The Professor

I am so sorry. I am sending you Healing and Energy... I lost my Dad 25 years ago, and as you can tell from my Posting name, It still Hurts. You have a long time of Memories, I only got 8 years. He may be walking the other path, but he is very much still always with you. I know mine is! Namaste.

My deepest condolences to those who lost their dads and/or a loved one, this is the first time it has hit this close to home for me.
I was thinking about the tsunami victims and the magnitude of loss is just overwhelming.
Then I think about the cavalier way this cabal ruins lives. Rummy couldn't even be bothered to sign his own name to condolence letters. :p
I am not the most prolific poster here, but I wanted everyone to know that this group touched my dad's life.
Thank you again.

48. I feel for you deeply- I lost my Dad app a week before Christmas myself. |
|
he had to go in the hospital for a bypass, but complications from diabetes/other things postponed it almost a month. When he finally had the bypass, there were more complications. He had total kidney failure and was having dialysis almost every day. But the doctors kept telling us that everything was still looking good, and we were still expecting him to recover, just not be the same. I had to drive app 300 miles one way every 4-5 days to be with him and still keep on top of things at home. I had just seen him moved to a bigger hospital in a nearby city to his home when I had to make the trip home. He passed away almost as soon as I arrived home. I thank God that my brother was with him.But no one knows the guilt I feel for not being there, and the shock I still feel because I never could, would believe that his passing was even a possibility. I still don't believe it. I saw him buried, and I still don't believe it.

I loss my uncle who lived with me just before Christmas, he too was like your dad a staunch Democrat. He held elected office here from 1948-1978.....he too developed a cancer, he went peacefully here at home. Went through the election day ups & downs with him too. Perhaps they were birds of a feather....and have met on the other side....take care.

35. So sorry to hear that news ... |
|
My father is dying (lung cancer), and is in hospice care at home. He was alert but not himself during the holidays. He's at that point where he constantly tells everyone he loves them, what a wonderful family he has, how happy he is, etc. We are very fortunate that he is "feeling" happy at this point, because the alternative is very unpleasant. He is in bed most of the day, but my mom does everything she can to get him up sitting, walking to the john and kitchen table, etc. Mom is a pillar of strength, and I'm so proud of her fortitude and courage through all this.
Anyway ... I just want to say that I know where you're at, and I wish you the best in your recovery from grief.

decline these last several months. I have been trying to spend as much time with him as I can.
It sounds as if you stayed in close touch with your Dad in his last weeks. I think you will be glad for that, when some of the immediacy of your loss subsides.
And, like you said, at least the Red Sox came through for us.
